Ive never been one to criticize what equipment is right or wrong, but in this situation ive voiced my opinion! A friend of mines goin elk hunting with me this fall, and due to years of shooting overbowed, had back surgery and has had to reduce his bow weight from #65 to #48! No biggie  I recommended that he beef up his arrow weight for elk, and he abided! He decided on Laminated Birch, with a 160gr head hes around 720gr! He wont budge on broadheads though , hes a die hard magnusI guy! That head cuts 1 1/2", and is rather stubby! With his setup i recommended a streamlined head like the STOS or Grizzly! Im sure he'll be ok, but i think im in the right with my suggestion trying to maximize penetration! Any thoughts?
If his shot is true, it won't matter much. To increase odds, however, I would get something a little stouter.
It would depend on the bow for me. If it's a straight profile "Hill" style, I would want a smaller head. If it's a high performance R/D, I would feel comfortable. That's if he ain't drawing too short.
Hes a helluva shot, always was! Hes shooting a Black Widow recurve, 60"er i think!
