I read a lot of you guys are using hot melt glue to glue the points on a wooden shaft.
But do you use this glue for glue-on points or do you combine it with screw-on points?
Will the point stay put when you shoot in wood?
I always use glu-on points and I use always the two part epoxy from three rivers which has to dry for 24 hours.
Epoxy is going to be better then hot glue.
Hot melt is a very traditional glue to use for glue-on points for wood arrows. Epoxy works great, too.
Personally, I use epoxy for all my points and have just learned to plan ahead to account for the curing time.
Whatever you use, be sure to clean the inside of the points of all, All, ALL, oil or grease before gluing.

without a doubt, slow set epoxy is the best of all bonds, better and safer than 5 minute epoxy. make sure to clean the point ferrule before gluing.
epoxied points can be removed with heat, but it will take lots longer than removing hot melt glued points.
I like to use the ferrul cement for fishing rod tips,I never had a problem pulling BH's out of plywood on a miss. And you can remove and change heads with ease with a little heat.Epoxy can shoot like a bullet when adding heat to remove a head, and can hold an screw in adapter to the point it breaks when trying to remove it.I think the key to any head attaching is to clean the ferrul good and wire brush(.22 cal bore brush works) it.JMHO
Used hot melt for a lot of years on woodies. Had very little problems with it. The problem was always my fault. Didn't care for Ferr-l-Tite. Was kind of brittle. The plain white stuff from a craft store worked very good. The hot melt from 3 Rivers called Quick Stick works good too. Be sure to heat the points for a good bond.
The yellowish hot melt is stronger than the white.
I have always used the milky white sticks with no problems. Cleaning the point before glueing is the key.
I use the milky white sticks too with no problems. I do use a brass bore brush chucked in my drill and dip it in alcohol, scrub em out good and then finish with a q tip.
