Anybody try lacquer spray-paint to crown wooden arrows?If so what is your opinion on this method?
wastes a heckuva lot of paint. better to dip if you want an opaque colored crown cap, or sticky wrap.
Well, I am on the other side of the "argument."
However, ya need to be sure your cresting and clear overcoat paints are compatable with your crown.
I spray mine mainly because I don't like dip tubes.... Just me. I have actually gotten pretty good a getting the job done.
I do 95% carbon shafts so that also has something to do with it.....
For opague I use a thin coat applied with a foam brush. Just actually did a set of AD Trad Lites with the woodgrain finish. I wanted a darker upper shaft. Just foam brushed on some Minwax stain. Worked great. You can still see the wood grain.

I use Rustolum brand paint. Spray the cap, coat with water base polly, crest with oil base enamel, another coat of polly then fletch..

I agree with JamesV. Duco cement for nock and fletching also.
I agree with Rob on this one. Spraying wastes a lot of paint and never looks as good as a dip.
I'm playing around with wiped on leather dye. So far so good but it is "muted" vs a paint dip.

That second picture doesn't do them justice. There is a much better contrast in sunlight.
I have done a lot of arrows that way but the paint is not nearly as tough as bonhing. Anyway lately i have just been using various color stains that looks real cool too.
