Ok, I realize most folks wait until they actually have their bow in hand to post pics; however, since I have a bit of time and since Sixby sent me some pics and since I'm as excited as a kid in an archery shop...I'm going to jump the gun a little. The bow will ship in a few days.

This bow has a phenolic I-beam in the riser. The woods are cocobolo and gaboon ebony. Belly lams are cocobolo and it is backed with diamondback skins. It is 62" long and 69@28. I'll post more when I get the bow in hand and have had a chance to fling a few arrows.

Hi Burnsie,
62" long
69@28
riser has an internal phenolic I-beam flanked by cocobolo and a gaboon ebony beauty fang
limbs (back to belly) are diamondback skins, carbon, actionboo cores, cocobolo, clear glass
Steve (Sixby) had me send a sketch of the grip I wanted as well as a tracing of my hand. I haven't gotten my paws on it yet, but it looks like he nailed it perfectly. He is a great guy to work with and is concerned with building exactly what is wanted, and building it very well. I ordered the bow about 3 months ago.
-
Great lookin bow Congrats!!!
-
That is one of the finest looking bows that I have ever seen! You've out done yourself Steve, and that is getting much harder to do.
-
Man that is very very pretty. Goodness Gracious!!!
So how is it possible to conceal the mounting bolts so much?
-
I think he put some skin on the face of the bolts, but haven't seen it in person, yet, to know for sure.
-
Joe vt I was thinking the same thing? If you look real close you will see them! They are recessed and the snake skin is on the bolt too.
Sure is one sharp bow!
-
Here's a close up of the bolts.

That's a beauty
-
That is a nice one for sure!!! Great job Steve!
-
Sixby is very talented!!
-
Ahhhhhhhh! I just sent Steve a deposit for a recurve and now it will be even harder to wait. Makes my mind easier though on the thought that I should have waited until later in the year and just bought some ski or snowboard stuff now since I'm in Germany.

I understand! I should have the bow in a matter of days, and I can barely sit still! :help:

Nice!

Beautiful sleek lines.

-
Oh My! That is to die for!!
-
Congrats! Thats really a very nice bow!
I like the woods and the lines very much.
Have fun with her!

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. This is a very beautiful bow but way too heavy for this old man. The bolts are just painted to match in. Now I guess I should have skinned them lo, but I figured that they would peel off. My wife is making the sock right now. She really makes a nice one for the three pieces with a seperate pocket for each limb and riser and a possibles pocket. I may still get this mailed out by this weekend. Hopefully. Lord willing this bow will be just what Andy was looking for.
Thanks Blake , You are going to get a neat bow Brother. God Bless you all and have a wonderful day, Steve

-
  Very nice!
-
Andy, you are a lucky dawg!!
Steve, my hat is off! :notworthy:
-
Extremely clean lines for a TD. The limbs just melt into the riser. Really nice craftsmanship shown there, Sixby.
-
Andy, I can't imagine why in the world you'd be all excited knowing that bow is soon to be in your hands. Lol! That right there is about as nice a bow as can be made by man. You are one lucky guy. Congrats to you and hats-off to Steve on building such a masterpiece! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :clapper:
-
That is an amazingly beautiful bow! Close-up pics show great attention to detail.
Sixby, you are a skillful artist! :clapper:
Andy, let us know how it shoots....
-
Joe asked; how do I conceal the bolts. That is actually complements of Apex Predator. There is a tool that has a nipple on it that is 5/16 that makes a perfect bolt recess. It fits right into the hole and then you cut the hole to the depth of the bolt top and flush it to the limb. Marty was kind enough to share that with me. Kudos to him for that one. What I do is make either two 1/8 in overlays for the top mount limb or one 1/4 overlay for the bottom mount limb out of phenolic. This overlay replaces the washer and is actually stronger . It also spreads the pressure across the entire limb. It presents a very clean limb setup.
Thanks for all the kind comments gentlemen. The glory belongs to Jesus who teaches my hands to war and also build bows. God bless you all, Steve

That is a sharp looking bow.
-
I'm not good with woods, but there is one in your riser that is one of the nicest looking colors/patterns I've ever seen. The one twords the heel of the grip, that is georgeous.

That's cocobolo. Steve said it was one of the nicer pieces he'd seen. The black is ebony. I think I'm developing a nervous twitch waiting on it to arrive! :knothead:

If I could just get an address on this package. (LOL) :bigsmyl:

Hey Andy that is a beautiful bow. Sixby does some kind of spectacular work. Should you ever get tired of it I don't live that far away, shoot I might even come pick it up to save you shipping it to me. LOL
-
Andy: Great looking Bow, Hope you enjoy and your arrow flys straight and true. Don
-
Incredible...I absolutely love that longbow and the concealed takedown system is perhaps the nicest approach I've ever seen.
Congrats on your new bow and congrats to Sixby for creating such a phenomenal bow!

Gah, Steve you kill me man. What's worse is you'll probably put out pictures before I ever get it. The two weeks minimum delivery to my APO is a killer I'm still waiting for a book I ordered Dec 17th.
Anyways I can't wait to see what you do.

Package on the way Andy. Probably about three days. God bless you for your patience Bro. I cannot imaging waiting for some slow bowyer to get me a custom bow for three whole months. It would drive me nuts. I really appreciate your patience. God Bless You , Steve

Three WHOLE months!
-
wow that is a great looking longbow!!!
-
Steve that's almost cruel man. A couple month wait followed by the time it takes for the Army Post Office here in Germany to deliver.
At the same time I think bows turn out best when you give just a couple of things you want done and then let the bowyer have artistic freedom.
That is one of the things that has kept me looking at Sixby's bows for a couple years now. His fit and finish along with artistic creativity are fantastic. I can't wait to see what he does with my Talon.
-
nothing like a new bow to brighten a day
-
Beautiful bow Andy.
Nice work Sixby.
-
How DARE there be a holiday when my bow is in transit??!! (kidding) :D
-
Funny :bigsmyl:
-
If this holiday will promote the content of character of which Dr King spoke so eloquently, then it will not be observed in vain.
-
Woo hoo! Bow came today, and the pictures don't do it justice. This bow is TONS more beautiful in person!! At 69#, it is admittedly, too heavy for me, presently; however, I can draw it to full draw without over-exertion and the first three arrows from 15 yards were within 1" of each other. I only shot 15 arrows, but I'm already in love. By the end of the summer, I won't even be thinking about this bow's draw weight! Steve, you da man! Thank you, sir.
:archer: :archer: :clapper:

I'm glad you like it Andy, I pray it blesses you and you remember everytime you shoot it where the inspiration comes from and that God gets the credit and glory.
I do appreciate you and really enjoyed working with you on building this bow. God Bless you. Steve
-
WOW that is nice! just my specs to... :D
-
Hey Andy,
I hope to use it to take bison, water buffalo, and cape buffalo...unless I get too much stronger and need a heavier one! :D
-
Anything Steve builds sure does not hurt for looks. Might be classified as Bow Porn. Very nice!
-
That is a beauty Steve!
-
Thanks everyone. Kirk and Mike its really good to see your posts. god bless you all, Steve
