Title: Lets See Some Possible Bags & Quiver Combos...
Post by: Nala on January 12, 2011, 10:42:00 AM
Hey all,

I am wanting to make a Possible bag and quiver combo.  I have thought about it and it seems to be the best solution to be able to carry my arrows and the stuff I would need when I hunt without having to wear belts, backpacks, holsters and quivers on my bow.  This seems to be able to handle it all.

3 Rivers has that German Ridge bag and quiver combo and while it's very nice, it's too much money for me.

I would like to see what bags you all have come up with.  Even if you don't have a quiver mounted to it, how about posting the bag you use.  I am looking for ideas here.

I will say that one of the most functional bags I have seen used for this purpose was a bag made by Maxpedition, but it is over $80.  Really cool though.

Lets seem them please!

Thanks

Nalajr

Here's a winter project from a few years ago.  I took some parts from an old Bear spring arm quiver and some elk leather.  I added pockets on the straps for a light, compass, knife, etc.

Here's a Plains-style side quiver with a large divided pouch with an extra pocket on the back:

So how do you make a good Robin Hood hat? I would like to give it a try and make one or two.

Plus, I have a friend in British Columbia who, if I send one to him, will HAVE TO WEAR IT! that will pay him back for him making me wear a Robin Hood outfit on a javelina hunt a few years back.

If you send me a self addressed, self stamped manila envelope I'll send you a pattern along with instructions.

They aren't difficult to make. You can glue them or sew them together.

God bless,Mudd

Thanks for the pics.  Some really good looking gear for sure.

I have been checking out the cordura type bags like the Maxpedition and while nice, they are pricey.  I also don't want something that's too big cause I don't like to carry a lot of gear.  I never get too far from the truck anyway.

I would also like to have something with an internal pocket that would allow me to carry my pistol, I do have a CCW by the way.  I guess I could attach a holster to the inside if I found the right bag and it didn't have an internal pouch for that use.

Keep the picture posting up.

i have a German ridge combo and love it mate it. there is plenty enough room to carry everything u will need for a full day hunt, but it only carrys 4 arrows i have a solo stalker on my bow so i carry 5 but am thinking of modding mine to hold 6 arrows on the bag. best thing i ever bought very well crafted.and look great im going to put a nice bit of fox fur on the pocket flap to spice it up too.

I have a army medic basic first aid bag. Not the little one that everyone carry's but the one with four seperate pockets inside that rolls up and has the flap with the buckle closure. On that I have a hip quiver that is made here in Michigan (don't remember who makes it offhand). The way the quiver comes is the 2 short straps that come together are connected to a large split ring. Well I took one of the straps off of the split ring and added another. Then I hooked both straps to either side of the medic bag shoulder strap where it hooks to the D-rings on the sides of the medic bag. I don't know if this sounds like jibberish or not but I don't know how the whole pic thing works so I can't post them here. Good luck.

Great looking combo's there all.

Got a couple ideas for a wool and leather strap from your posts, thanks. Will turn my wife loose with her machines to get one out for me.

You can get wonderful woven wool straps and sashes from Ron LaClair, and I think they are sill being made by a TG member who goes by bowmac here. Very high quality, handmade stuff! I haven't seen bowmac (Court McFarland) here recently, hopefully he is too busy to post.

Couldn't you use a strap on quiver with a backpack? I guess it depends on what you like. Bags generally give me neck aches and I feel lopsided. But that may just be me
