could someone tell me what the speed difference is between a Zipper bow with carbon limbs compared to regular limbs.
Just adding carbon to the Evolution recurve limbs will get you about 5fps.However, because of the great gains in lateral stiffness this particular carbon gives us.It allows me to change the wedge to load the limbs even more.Changeing the wedge also adds another 3fps.So over all you are looking at about 8 fps.Because this carbon is so stiff lateraly it will also make a limb that is more forgiving to shoot. Its not all about the speed.
Another way to think of it is with the carbon and foam you can shoot a limb that will perform like a limb 3 or 4 lbs heavier.Or another way to look at it.It allowes me to shoot an arrow that is 12.5 grains per pound at a similar speed as a much lighter arrow.I am shooting a 640 some grain arrow from a 52# SXT w/carbon and foam Evolution recurve limbs right at 170 fps.I have a 28" drawlength.

Cannot top that reply. Whats better than an answer strait from the source! I can tell you that my Carbon/Foam SXT longbow limbs at 3# less draw weight than my standard longbow limbs required a stiffer spine arrow. I have not chronoed it to compare because my stiffer spined arrow is 44 grains heavier. But at exact same arrow weight I am certain the Carbon/Foam limbs at a lower draw weight are faster.
Kevin you are right the longbow limbs respond very much the same. They have the same wedge upgrade in them as the recurve limbs.
I have no intention of shooting any of my bows that are not carbon and foam.Yes carbon is another $100 and foam is $30 but when you consider it over the life of a bow.It realy is cheep horse power, and extra stability is always a good thing.
One new project for Feb. is to make a video that shows actual repeatable results (on my shooting machine and crono.) of each limb along with the various upgrades we offer. That way there is no question,no voodo its lagit.I think it will also help to build confidence in anyones potential new bow purchase. It never hurts to be informed.

Gosh darn it Bill...looks like this will be the year i finally succumb to one of those Zippers!
:)
Bill thanks so much for your reply. We will see you at kzoo
Bill, Nice clear explanation.
Thank you!
I have never tryed a wood cored Zipper limbed bow,but my Carbon/foam recurve limbs are amazing:quiet fast forgiving and accurate,I can't ask for more..
