is there any way to tell what your string is?
because i know sqwatt about strings, any visual differences between b-50 or the fast flight stuff..?
Bryant, what kind of bow are ya shootin?
How many strands?
A 16 strand string of D-97 is going to be smaller in dia. than a 16 strand Dacron!
Other than taking scissors to it, if it's fresh, I can smell the Difference!
Good Question Arrow 30.
I also would like to know.
Frank,
I have no way to reference "smaller"
Any other ways to know the difference?
im shooting a (newer) kodiak mag
.
and how do i know how many strands it is?
is a strand a single fiber or multiple fibers?
it has three colors.
im pretty sure its not dacron cause its smaller than the ones(b-50) i have gotten from threerivers.
my reason for this question is im wanting a new string, and dont have a clue as to what to tell the string maker what i need.
i know i dont want a b-50 on this bow, cause i tried one once and changed the way my arrows reacted.
so are there any differences in fast flight material?
i just dont want to have to re-tune my arrows...
or should i just order one and see what happens?
thanks for your opinions-advise..... :banghead:
ok, i took the string off and counted , 3 bundles 5 strands each...15 strands.
so would any fast flight stuff work?
Sounds like dynaflight, but this is of course pure speculation only because 3 x 5 is a common combination with dynaflight.
ok, thanks...i dont think its any of the newer stuff theyre coming up with, since its probobly a couple years old( at least) i took it off of another k-mag.just because i liked the colors more than the one(black) that came with it new.
Try getting in touch with Oliverstacy here on the site. He walked me through the process and make a fine string.

I thought I was the only one that thought there was a difference in the smell...hummmm!
Worked with some BCY 8125 last night and it had a different smell than the D-97.
If you can cut it with scissors its Dacron...FF is much tougher and will require something stronger! I found some nippers at Wal-Mart that work well for FF.

I try to label my strings if not on the bow and remember what I have on the bow - -yikes! Recently I had to call BW and ask them about a string I had new in a bag since 2004. It was black and red and they confirmed it was a FF string.
I know this, if I'm not sure, I don't put the string on a non FF bow! I'm surprised how economical strings are. I can order them from one bowyer and get them in about 3-4 days for $14 each including shipping -- B-50 or AstroFlight(new FF material).
There are always little bits of string sticking out at the splices. B50 is easy to cut with fingernail clippers-- the 'FF' types are almost impossible. They both can be cut with a knife so use clippers to tell the story.
thanks guys.. :archer:
