I am curious what the difference is between action Boo and normal Bamboo....
Actionboo is made from strips of bamboo laminated together, similar to Actionwood. The bowyers I have talked to say that it is much more consistent from lam to lam than bamboo. Some say that it offers a little more speed and stability as well.

Holy cow Spanky, that is a fast answer! Which bows are made of real Bamboo? Only HH or are there more out there?
I guess another advantage is that it pulls sweeter?
Most of the hill bowyers still use Bamboo. Craig at HH will use Actionboo (Lamboo) at the customers request. I really like the Actionboo as it performed very well in the two Hills I had with it. I would not hesitate to use it again. As for R/D bows I believe most of them use Actionboo.
Oh yeah, I would not necessarily say that it was a sweeter draw, just snappier! The extra glue joints in the Actionboo should make it feel a tad stiffer - not like stacking, just maybe a pound heavier in draw weight kind of feel...at least that is my impression.
Thans Again Spanky. I think you are comparing Action Boo with normal Boo?
I was more refeering to Bamboo in general compared to other limb material.
But you gave an interesting answer. I hadn't thought of that yet!
i've heard some not-so-good things about actionboo (bamboo flooring). perhaps a bowyer will chime in on this thread.
personally, i'll take solid, ground tempered tonkin cane or bamboo. all my longbows sport one or the other. no complaints at all from me.
with regards to 'boo versus all the other core and veneer woods - NO comparison, real 'boo or cane is SO much smoother on the draw and release, imo.
I only use bamboo (some lamboo) and yew in my longbows. Both give a smooth draw, good speed, and low handshock. My experience has been that yew is a little smoother with maybe a tad more thump in the hand, the bamboo is quicker.

I have lamboo with the yew in my HH Half Breed, shoots fine and smooth. My Bamboo Vipers and Venom have laminated bamboo in them,no problem there either.
I think some of the bad press came from bows built with cheap bamboo flooring full of voids. The laminated Bamboo actionwood allows the nodes to be spaced out more evenly.
I agree with Mike, someone had a bad board and the word spread it was all bad. I have over 500 amber-boo bows out there and I have never had a failure due to the laminations. It's good stuff if you use the good stuff.
Listen to Mr.Kendall.I have one of those boo Kanati's and boy do they shoot!
I've been using the laminated bamboo that Kenny McKenzie sells, and have never had a failure.
ok, good to hear about the actionboo. thanx guyz!
