This is my new hunting buddy Honey-4yo Labrador retriever.I got her from the local sheriff's dept. She is a search/cadaver dog and I had worked with her on some jobs, the officer that was her handler is retiring and they weren't going to continue the program so he offered her to me.She will search live or dead people,And he said she also tracks deer like nothing you ever seen.He said as long as I work her she can find any deer I shoot.I had here in the woods today and her nose never left the ground. She is an amazing dog completely trained and obedient. Her last day as an officer was Friday and that morning she was actually called to do a search. Her and I are going to do a lot of woods time together.

Thanks for looking, and I will post pics of any deer she finds if I get to harvest any.
Looks like she fits right in. Congrats!
Good luck to you and her in her early retirement.
"Cadaver" dog, you say? Do they have any "Hidden Loot" dogs that age?
Sweet! She's a beauty!
That's a yellow lab, not a Golden Retriever!

Beautiful Lab, that will be nice having her totaly trained up already. Enjoy!
What a cool dog! A great dog, yes, but cool, too! I'd love to see a trained search dog go out hunting.
She is a beauty, enjoy your new buddy!
Beautiful dog, here's wishing you many happy adventures together. :clapper:
Excellent Dog! Nothing like a good Dog around to keep the stress level down. Congrats on the new family member Tim.
whata a beauty! Congrats give a her a good retirement, sounds like she earned it
Congrats on the new family addition. Labs are great dogs, I have 2 yellows myself.
Lucky you!! Take care of her. She will take care of you.
Nice looking dog! I got one that would pass for her twin. His name is Boomer and has been the best buddy that a guy could ever have.Enjoy your journeys together
I love labs I have had 4 during my lifetime all black, and they are one of the smartest and well mannered breeds that there is. My most recent one died about 2 years ago and I still miss her badly. Smartest dog hands down that I have ever had bar none. She was more than just a dog, she was my best friend and went everywhere I did. She stayed in the house and even slept at the foot of my bed.
You two are gonna have alot of fun together. Cherish every moment you have with her cause they only live about 12-13yrs. and it's not near long enough for me.
Nice looking dog, congratulations.
She is beautiful!!!! Congrats!!!
You did good with that one! I love my blonde bomeshell Abby(my lab)she loves to come shooting with me. Just about everyone knows her by name at the range or any 3-D shoot. If I bump a feather or move the bow she thinks we are headed shooting. Can't use dogs for deer in Utah but she's great with the birds. Good luck with the new hunting partner.
Looks like she's got it all, smarts and looks. I've raised labs for years, and will always have at least one in the house. Congrats!
You are very lucky to have a dog like that. You can't beat a good lab for a house dog, hunting, trailing, retreiving etc. Have fun with her!
My sister raises and sells labs, both puppies and trained dogs.It does not get any better ,she is a beauty! All the best to you and her ,many good times you'll have.PS_they can also sniff out lost arrows, but if your like me you never miss.LOL
I think you are a lucky guy,and I think she got lucky too!
Cool dude, too much fun to have a trianed canine. Mine retrieves feather cadavers!

Happy For Ya Tim! She is a "Honey"!

Congrats to the both of you! Enjoy each other's company. Just a word of warning, the years fly by with a great dog and all to soon things begin to slow down. Trust me I know, Jake my yellow lab that I rescued just can't go the distance anymore, so we get out for the short walks as much as we can. He still enjoys all that he gets. Take care and have a great time together.
Thanks guys for all the replies. Her and I are gonna have some grand times in the woods. And my kids are already having a great time with her as well. :campfire:
Beautiful hunting buddy you have there sir! Nothing like them!
Good to know she'll enjoy her retirement.
Lab are the best and good for you to give her a good home
Nice looking dog ,your buddys will be calling you at all hours to track deer next year.
Nice catch! Looks comfy on that couch already!
My three favorite dogs: Black Labs,Yellow labs and Chocolate Labs. Great huntiin'/trackin' buddies!
Very nice dog
Beautiful Lab--my 4-yr-old chocolate often wonders why I call her by the wrong name, the name of my Yellow lab who died last April. It takes a while, I guess! Enjoy that dog--Labs are the best!
she's a beauty!Congrats
My black lab would like to have her phone number!!

He told me that she is sexy!!!
MAY THE SPIRIT OF FRED BEAR GUIDE OUR ARROWS.
shes beautiful congrats
Awesome that you took her
Worst thing for a working dog is not working.
Absolutely put her to work!!I am amazed the retiree didn't want to keep her with the program being suspended.
I worked with a couple of golden retriever cadaver dogs a few months ago on a double murder case. They were absolutely amazing to watch as they worked a grid.
Beautiful K9! They enjoy working and being rewarded. Keep her active, feed her quality food and give her plenty of exercise for a long and rewarding life for the both of you. My 9 year old K9 is laying next to me as I write!
Nice. Enjoy her, nice to have a back up, and you'll probably use her on every deer, but hopefully all the trails will be blessedly short.
hey tim she is an awesome looking dog Buddy you sure have a hunting Buddy there. congrats :clapper: :clapper:
Good looking pup!
Gotta love those Labs. I'm on my second Lab.
