Lots of talk out there about this bow and that bow. I'm fortunate enough to own nine or ten myself. Both recurves and longbows. Love 'em all but... Must have the arrow tuned correctly or :knothead: After my bump heals up I'll be out there shootin' the pants off of some of you fellas. I hope...
... mike ...
* PS... Thanks for all the well wishes. My wife should have a quick recovery. :)
Ain't no magic bows, arrows, broadheads, strings, gloves, tabs, silencers....a little tuning can go a long way, and eliminate the need for band-aids....
Like the Indians use to say "Any bow good bow,but a heap lot of work to make good arrows"
A bow has never killed a deer, but arrows sure have.
trad bows and finding arrows seems like a pain. so much easier with compounds it seems.
found what im going to try and hope it works
I have one bow! I've shot the same setup for a whole year "same bow same arrows" Kind of boring but it works. I can pick it up without thinking and just shoot. It just feel's natural! Good luck with the tuning! Jason
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh! you guys will kill the used bow market if you let this out.
You mean, The Magic Bow, was all a lie?? :scared:
Killdeer
If the magic bow is a lie, the quest for it isn't.
Killdeer, The Majic Bow is real. That's what Larry said when he sold it to me :dunno:
The magic bow is real, just ask my wife, she will tell you I have 5 or 6 of them. :bigsmyl:
no magic bow.....yeah right
My 1 trad bow is Magic.....it speaks to me.
Every time I pick it up, it says ..."Oh no, not again!"
Then when I shoot it says.... "You Suck!"
That's usually when I start to cry and put it away.
As I start to walk away from it I can hear a long sigh of relief coming from the bow ..."Whew..I'm glad that's over with, there for a minute I thought it was all my fault?"
:biglaugh:
Mikey, you might be the handsomest guy on the block but you sho enough are a few sandwiches short of a picnic. I own several magic bows and Ive whooped you with at least 3 of them and plan on doing so a 4th time at your tree rat hunt. You want some of this??? Glad your better half is doing well. :readit:
If there is no magic bow, how do I convince my wife I need just one more or maybe two more. :) :)
OMG! What Did I Start?! Anyway... I must confess that I do own a magic bow. It's a BW TFV that my wife gave me back in 2002. Kinda like (shooting) an ex-girlfriend. Did I just say that?
See... All this is to talk me outa spending too much $$$ on stuff I don't need. Maybe I can tune some of my 150 plus arrows (2016's, 11/32 woodies & 45/60 Carbon Express) to each bow. :archer2: ...
Shoot some MFX 500s and they will impart magic into any of your old bows.
Just keep telling myself..
I must have faith.
I must have faith.
I must have faith.
There is a magic bow.
There is a magic bow.
There is a magic bow.
There may be a bow that suits one archer better than another, for certain. But the arrow and the tuning of bow to shaft and shaft to bow is the key.
Ain't nothing wrong with a pretty bow. And who's to say pride of ownership doesn't give someone added confidence or incentive to practice and lead to better shooting?
Yup the bow is only as good as the arrow which is only as good as your form! Unless you hang them as decoration and never shoot them. :goldtooth:
I have some perfectly matched arrows to a old beat up not pretty to look at bow but shoots great. If your magic is starting to fade send it my way and I will get this old thing out of here.
Calling all, once magic bows. :biglaugh:

Oh thank you!
That gave me a good belly laugh.
I needed that tonight..thanks
Beware of the man or women that owns only one bow. :notworthy:
Don't be too sure there ain't a "magic bow" out there just for you. I got my hands on a Predator recurve this year and it sure has made a noticeable difference in my shooting!!!! :jumper:
I think you nailed it SuperK?
Maybe not a magic bow, but better suited to your style of shooting......which would make it the "Perfect Bow" wouldn't it?
I'll have to be honest, I'm still searching for that "Perfect" bow. It's out there, and I may need to try one of each until I find it.
My magic bow is a Ben Person I bought in 1971, but of course I have found five more magic bows. Yes I have found some magic arrows a long the way.
Of course there is a magic bow. That long-haired chap in Lord of the Rings has one, and is quite deadly on Orks as well as elephants, which he brain-shoots, would you believe! I saw it all with my own eyes, captured on motion film!
There are no magic bows, but some bowyers build more deer into their bows than others. Be nice to the man that is building your bow, it is one of the tricks that they don't share with the rest of us. I asked Louis Armbruster how many deer he built into one bow I was looking at and he said "just two at that price".
I learned the following:
A perfect bow with a poorly tuned arrow shoots poor, but a poor bow with a perfecly tuned arrow shoots perfect!
I made this one myself. Now hang that above your bed!
BTW: I shoot ONE bow only......
Perfect bow or perfect woman. Always a matter of personal values and desires.
Amen to some shoot better right off, due to form and fit... but the arrow thing really is the kicker, isn't it?
McGroundstalker... try shimming or thinning the side plate when you need to go up or down in spine...that works magic too!
Ya mean tune the bow to the arrow? Thanks Doc! :D
... mike ...
I've been blessed with being able to tune my GT Trads fully set up for my Zona T/D Recurve at 49# & just tweak the BH on my Sky Hawk to get it shooting them just as well.
I thought I had the magic arrows or something but as you are telling me, all it is was the tuning effort. ;)
There is no one "magic" bow because everybodys hand is different and bow grips are different. Some bows will just fit your hand better and be more automatically dead on than others, and some you just never will shoot well. Me? I can pic up about any Predator or Palmer and hit exactly where I look, but have to work on hitting with a widow. (havent tried an Asbel grip yet) When you find one that works it does feel like its "magic" and thats a bow you should keep.
