We were talking with friends last night and they do not hunt but would like to try it. I mentioned that I am working on a WARF bow and fletch my own arrows. All in all, I told him I try to make as much of my gear as I can. My wife looked at him and said, "I would like to see him build his own bow in the future." I now have the green light to try making a bow and I am pumped about it. I know it will take time to learn and research, but that is part of the fun.

You forgot to tell her how much you're going to spend on machinery !!!
don't fall for it! same thing happened to me after I showed mine the price of a strunk osage selfbow and she said "just build your own".....
then she came home and freaked the hell out and started throwing stuff because of all the shavings on the living room floor,, I yelled back "what do you think some fairy comes along and does it for me"
it kinda didn't work out for me in the end..

Wanna trade???
I feel for you man;I mean do you really need permission from your wife?
Better get started before she changes her mind
you got a keeper there buddy.mine is ok with me buying a Big Jim thunderchild and a english longbow this year.she said "you have 52 guns and never shoot them, but you have 12 bows and can shoot them in the yard,so i would rather see you buy bows than more guns"i love her.she is a keeper too.good luck to you buddy, steve

I think AdamH nailed it. She expects you to find a stick and whittle it into a bow and then polish it on a rock with no investment but time. Plus, she knows that will keep you busy in the cellar (under her roof = under her control). :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Sometimes we don't need permission but having the wife's full backing sure makes it more fun (from one married 45 years). She can share your enthusiasm for the project.
Humm did she do this  or this  when she said it, my wife does this  when she says stuff like that.
I thought that I had the best wife ever, but man you got a great one too....... :archer:

A-men. Only 31 years for us but by good fortune and great luck I married my best friend. Sometimes we fight like cats and dogs but when THE ADMIRAL is happy the whole house is happy.
She shoots a compound but I still love her. :D
I did not have to ask permission. She is very interested in archery and thinks it would be cool to make a bow. She love making her own gear like baits and arrows. Maybe she is hinting I make a bow for her.
