A few months back I expressed a need for a short hunting bow that would draw good at 30"+. I've got an infant and my current vehicle situation doesn't accommodate a 68" LB. He told me that he was already working on something like that and after several months, this little beauty arrived at my door Friday morning. I've got the 3rd one ever made.

I had Nate surprise me with the majority of the specs. I simply asked for a bloodwood riser. She's 58" 55# at 30" and an R/D design. I ended up with bamboo core, cocobola acccent and veneers, bloodwood, phenolic, and elk antler tips. Came with a D97 string and a nice fleece bowsock.
FYI - I restitched the grip with sinew and put a new soft leather rest on there. I do this for every bow regardless.
Looks like a beauty, how does she shoot?
More pics. It's a real shooter! I'm a tall guy and I was real skeptical about a 58" because I dislike the pinch on a 30+ draw. My longbows are all 68". I'm also not a big R/D guy.
I am pleasantly surprised by this bow. Felt a little too compact in my hands at first - kinda light. My Great Northern quiver fixed that. Loves a 2219 aluminum and an 80-85# cedar!

I like that!!!!
SWEET!!
good looking bow, and good value, was just on the web site this morning. He used to have a "stock" bow page but I couldnt find it, guess business is good!
Nice piece of work and the limb tips really an eye catcher thanks for sharing and enjoy
Really nice looking bow. Keep us posted on how it shoots.
Nate is working on one for me too. I can't wait to see it.
Matt
That's a sweet looking bow. I'm actually leaning toward an R/D longbow, currently shoot a recurve. Gonna have to give a longbow a whirl! Jason
Nick, you need to become the official Bama Bows field staff/tester! Great looking bow. :clapper:
That's a beautiful bow right there! Nate is a truly gifted bowyer. Congrats! :notworthy: :clapper:
Nice looking bow you have there!
I like the limb tips....
Jason

It sounds like he's got a few bows in the works for people right now and the majority of the work he is getting is custom work.
Wannabe - I think I am whether he likes it or not :biglaugh:
Thanks for the comments guys. There are some better pics of mine up on his site. I'm currently working on a video review for it so you can see how she shoots. Playing with a Dacron string too for those who don't like FF.
As usual Nate has done it again, I knew this bow would be nice, gotta have me one, better start saving my money, I can see a Hunter Expedition in my future!
Nick how are you coming on the video review of the expedition. I'm foaming at the mouth to hear how it does. I jacked-up my shoulder and my 62# @ 29 1/2 draw Bamabows hunter and Martin Jaguar are hanging on the rack all lonely. I'm going to have to drop down into the 40s looks like as soon as momma warms up to the idea. Great reason to get a Expedition though don't you think? I'm wondering about finger pinch.
\\Classy lookin bow,congrats...good shootin...
love the low grip how does it shoot? i want one lol nice bow!
Where's that droolin' smiley when ya need it?
What's the brace on that thang?
Looks like 7-8"
Grip looks pretty forward.
You might as well post pics of your first shot groups. You did take pics, right?
Would like to see it unstrung, hint hint.
Actually guys...mine was the prototype. I shot it, gave Nate my comments, he tweaked the design, and already improved on it in a multitude of ways. So much so that he insisted on building me a new one.
So I've got a Cocobola model with phenolic accent, Bamboo cores, and Lacewood veneers (with green stain) in production.
RagingWaters actually has a new Expi with Nate's finalized design...he was discussing it in his thread but it was yanked for some reason??
I think he had the same thread title as me.
I won't review until I shoot the new model!!!
Gents,
I have #6 in the new series. Mine is 58" 65# at 28". It is better than I expected. Smooth, quiet, fast, hard hitting penetration just barely descibes my Expedition.
I had a thread about it earlier and it got yanked. I don't know why. No Moderator PM'd me as to why.
I will get some pictures this weekend and post them.
Matt
That is nice! I like it.

I shot the target in the neck as an example of the penetration I got from my Expedition, 500 gr woodie.

Matt...your making me jealous. lol. Oh well...soon enough.
What about finger pinch guys. Nick didn't you say you had a 30+ draw? Did you get any from the proto?
Zero, repeat Zero finger pinch. I will post a picture at full draw and you will see why.
Matt
Looks good to me
Well...having zero pinch on a short bow isn't possible scientifically. A 64-68" bow is always going to feel better for a long draw guy.
I didn't notice the pinch much due to how little it stacked and how smooth it drew to 30.5"
I had a 60" recurve and the pinch tore up my index finger. I shot this one for a week straight and it didn't bug me much.
You are always going to get some pinch on a short bow. That is the trade off.
Very nice.
Congrats! Nice looking bow!

Okay, I would have to agree. However, I feel the pinch is hardly noticable. I shot my Expedition all day long and loved it.
My fingers are just fine.
Of course, I am a tough guy.
Matt
My son bought one from Nate after we made a trip to his house. His has cocobolo riser with bocote accent strip, yew belly and zebra wood backingand stag horn tips. All this in a 50@28 bow. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the way it shoots is awesome. His draw length is between 26-27 inches and this bow is spitting out a 447 grain arrow at 181 fps.
Chris,
That bow was originally for me. Nate missed the weight and you snagged it. Awesome bows. I love my 58" 65# at 28" Expedition!!!!
Matt
The pics aren't doing anything to cool my fever.
Matt,
Nate told us that he missed the mark with the weight on the bow. He sure made my 16 year old very proud and happy. He worked hard and saved up the money for this bow. Either way he was going to place an order for one after visiting Nate and after shooting some of his bows. I will probably end up with one as well. Enjoy your new bow, my son sure is.

Very nice stic !!!
Love bone tips :)
:coffee:
Well that did it for me. I ordered an expedition from Nate and the wait is on.
I promise to get some full draw pictures and some strung and unstrung pictures up by the weekend.
Also, might put up a video. Mine is soooooo smooth, quiet, fast and hard hitting. LOOOOOVVVEEEE IT!
Matt
Matt
What was the turn around time on your expedition. Not that I'm anxious I was just wondering.
Gosh, I think Nate made mine in less that a few weeks. Maybe, it was just 3 weeks? I don't remember.
Matt
