Boy, do I love the late season, and with a little snow, got down to Md. about 11:30am when most are headin home, my foam seat over one shoulder, my home-made Asbell style quiver over the other and off I went, got on some fresh tracks and followed ever so slowly for about 1/4 of a mile, decided to set up in a blow down for a few hours, chill was settin in (gettin older} got up, slowly started on the tracks for about another 1/4 mile just takin it all in, just me and mother nature {I just love solitude} and there they were about 150 yards down over against the lake shore, must of been about 10 of em, just feeding ever so peacefully, tried my best to be an Indian, didn't work {ha ha} off they went, I just smiled and changed my course, went about another 300 yards and up jumped 7 or 8 more, looked at me and said see ya !! I went over to where they were and there were about 10 fresh beds, overlooking a point, I sat down for about an hour takin it all in, just lovin the scenery, staring at my L/B and thinkin about life ... Got home and my Bud calls, "Did ya get any" ... Nope !! I say, but Man did I have a BLAST !!
Yea sometimes it's just about the journey.
Sounds like a good day !
I'd say you get it Adam. Thanks for the story.
Thats what it's all about!
You can,t beat just being out there with nature.
:archer:
sounds like fun!
A day like you had is waaaaaaaay better than a day at work. Just to get out and taste the outdoors is a great thing.
I hear you Adam. My hunts are no longer considered successful if I did or didn't kill anything. The older I get, the more it"s about getting out and taking my bow for a hike in the woods and enjoying every minute of it.
Glad you had fun. :clapper:
Amen brother sounds like a great day to me! :clapper:
Good stuff Adam ... doesn't get much better does it. I think it falls into that "if you have to ask you'd never understand " kinda thing .
Sure is fun aye!!!!!!!
I can listen or in this case read those kind of story's all night long. Thanks.
Earl
Love it! And share your feelings for woods and solitude...
The older I get the more i realize it's always about the journey! Thanks for sharing one of yours.
AdamH my Bud! That's why I call it my Therapy!!! We were happy to cut some fresh tracks ourselves. A great day to be out! Carrying a new 2 piece Mohawk with a quiver full of tapered Sitka Spruce made it even better!
Sounds like a great day! It's never really been about the killing for me.. just being out in God's country. Ya gotta love it! Good Hunting, Jason
Sounds like most of my hunts. Most people will never understand the peace and joy I get from it. :campfire: :campfire: :campfire:
