Title: Bravehart Archery
Post by: Greg Ray on January 08, 2011, 01:07:00 PM
Postal carrier just dropped off 2 dozen Surewood shafts from Bravehart (a sponsor here).Ordered Thursday, here today !   I don't think any of the 24 need straightening.  Never tried douglas fir before but I'm excited to try.

I noticed that with Douglas Fir a couple months ago.  I bought some from Fletcher at the GLLI, and everyone of them were straight as aluminum shafts.  Awesome wood for shafts.  I still pick cedar as my favorite, but doug fir has some awesome advantages over cedar, and will more than likely be my shaft of choice in the near future.  My only complaint with cedar is that when I grind the tapers and sand the shafts, the dust gets my sinuses all clogged up.  I learned that about cedar many years ago, and refused to take any jobs that included me working with it.  Maybe that was my hint to seek another material.
