Recently traded for a Hornes Traditionalist. I am really liking it, but having a hard time with brace height. It is currently set at 6 3/4". It is noisy, and thumps my wrist. I keep playing with it, but cant quiet find it. I am also wondering if it likes really heavy arrow maybe. Can someone give me any advice on brace height and arrow weight. The bow is marked 53lbs at 28". I am drawing 26". My arrow is a 28" GT 3555 with 225 up front for a total weight of 490 gr. Puts the arrow around 10gpp. Thanks for any help.
Jeff
I believe Mark recommends 7 1/4. Thats where mine stays. You should be fine with that weight of arrow. I shoot CE 150's that finish out about 530 gr's.
Traddict, thanks for the info. I actually have an email into Mark, but havent heard back, sure he is busy. I will try 7 1/4". Thanks again.
Jeff
Yeah, bring it up to 7.25'' my 66''er loves 7.5'' or a tad under, shootin 575 grn. CX Heritage 250's @ 56#'s this things a "THUMPER" !! Also, she wears a 10 strand Dyna 97 Padded to 16 String from Chad Weaver, Champion Custom Strings, I REALLY LOVE THIS BOW !!
My Traditionalist is 62" and 44#@27", bamboo lams, drawn to 27.5". In my case a brace of 7.75" to 8" works best. The conventional 7.25" brace shot poorly for me, with serious shock and noise. Try a higher brace and/or a different string, it might work for you.
I've shot all my Horne's at 7 3/8. Works well for me
Like the others I shoot my Hornes in the same range about 7 3/8.
I like 6 7/8 to 7"
