Does any one shoot 3 under? If so, was it tillered for 3 under or split?

I have shot several bows that were tillered for split finger........three under. I know some people say there is a "noise" difference, but I can't hear or feel it if there is one. I have had the opportunity to shoot two different Centaur one-piece bows, I believe that they were both tillered for split finger.
I have also spoken to several bowyers about the difference in tillering one of their bows for split finger and three under. Several of them said that they don't tiller the bow any different.
It does however take a little bit different "tune" to get the arrows flying true, but mostly nocking point height on the string. My nocking points seem to be very close for either way of shooting because my shooting buddy shoots split and I shoot three under and we can both shoot the same bows without any adjustments what-so-ever.

I'm shooting a Centaur and use three under. If it originally is tillered for split finger, then you might set the nocking point a thad higher.

i have 2 and shoot 3 under. both were tillered for split, and as margly said, its just a matter of raising the nock point a bit. if you call jim and talk to him about the difference he'll fill you in, real easy guy to talk to.

Thanks for the replies. I have several bows that at tillered split and shoot them both ways. My bow is not due until June and was wondering if it really made that much difference? Just another decision to make. A longbow seems to be easier for me to shoot split, but this bow may be different. The grip looks like it would allow your hand to lock in place a little more than a normal longbow.

Doug, I received my Centaur from Jim back in Mar/Apr 2010, I shoot 3 under normally and had Jim tiller for that. The bottom limb at the fade is 7 and 11/16 and the top limb is 7 and 13/16 1/8th difference (at my brace ht). Now that being said I played around with it trying to get the best tune for accuracy and quietness and never could get satisfied, I eventually went back to shooting split. The bow is just quieter to "ME" shooting that style. Jim did exactly what I asked him to do and gave his advice before and after the bow was built (Probably worried him to death on it, good guy!). My personal opinion now after having bows built both ways (BW, BigHorn, and Centaurs) it don't really matter tune using arrows, brace, and noc adjustments and you'll get where you want it, but to me 3 under will be louder to you.
Also wanted to add Jim is accessible by phone and will spend whatever time is needed to get it right in a customers order. I wanted a special wood veneer that Jim didn't carry and he allowed me to order it from across the country and have it shipped to him at a minimal extra cost. I drew a picture of what i wanted on the riser as for the stippling, he let me get involved in the process and I very much appreciated it. I even got a Christmas card from Jim and his wife Katie! Classy People! I'm thinking of sending mine back to Jim to redo my riser stippling, his creative touch would have been better than what I asked him to do :rolleyes: Best advice Jim know "His" bows listen to him and give him full license to create the bow with your inputs but let him have final say!
