Have any of you "TradGangers" out there have used D.F. shafts by Archery Past? What was your experience with them. What was the quality of the shafts? Were the weight spec's and spine spec's met? If you have used Archery Past, would you use them again. I don't wamt to "bash" this supplier I just want a fair evaluation of their service and quality.
Thanks for your "anticipated" replies
I haven't used the shafts but I have dealt with Archery Past at shoots out here in the west.
I've found him to be a stand up guy with a lot of knowledge that he's happy to share with folks.

Archery Past is THE traditional archery supplier to most all of Oregon.
He uses Sherwood Shafts which are known for their quality. He hand spines each shaft before it is shipped out. Dave also makes the Big and Little Dippers.
He is well respected by members of TAO and is the "spark plug" for the Oregon Archery Heritage Museum.
Should he make a mistake he will fix it.
I am not sure this is exactly a "fair" evaluation as he is a friend so you should know that.

If a man is willing to publicly say another man is a friend, that in itself says alot in my book.

I have to second that.
I have delt with Dave at shoots and on the phone. The shafts I have purchased from him are great and have met all my expectations. To illistrate the type of person he is to deal with, the last order I placed with him was for a dozen Doug Fir shafts. He sent 13. I called and told him I owed him some money for the extra shaft and he told me it wouldn't be doing any good sitting around his shop and I did not owe him anything but to keep the shaft and shoot it. You can't go wrong dealing with Dave. He is as fine a person to deal with as you can find.

I have dealt with Dave many, many times. He stands behind his products and sells Surewood shafts. These shafts are building a reputation for being high quality...PR
I bought two dozen shafts from him last year at Compton and was very happy with them. He took time to explain to me the differences in cedar vs douglas fir vs sitka spruce. I plan on buying from him again and recommend his products.
I havent used the shafts, but have purchased other items from his catalog. Will be ordering arrows from Dave next.
Dave Doran is a great guy. You will have no problems when dealing with Dave. Shaft weight and spine weight will be where they should be. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of traditional archery also...experienced? Did I just say he's old?
Thanks for sharing with me about your experiences.
I too met Dave at Comptons this past year. Bought several dozen tapered shafts and they have been great. Since then I have purchased a few more dozen.
Great guy to deal with and shafts are top notch!
Dave is a straight up old timer and a great guy. You can't go wrong with his shafts and knows wood better than most. dino
Dave is a stand up Guy to deal with I buy a lot from him, and being that I have only been in the Traditional Bowhunting game for a couple years he has been a great help. Dave gave me some advice when I was think about quiting being a Pope and Young Measure, he pointed out that the club is not all about Trophy. Blake
Any dealings I have had with Dave including shafting have been first class all the way. :archer2:
Its been said here alot already, but let me add.Dave at Archery Past is a wonderful friend and a very honest business man.Thats not always found today.Dave knows his products and knows traditional archery. You wont ever go wrong with Archery Past!
