Post by: 1hornhunter on January 05, 2011, 09:44:00 AM

I've never bought or used any Rudderbow products so I can't say about their quality from experience.
Primalneedarchery makes a great boo/ipe glue-up with very little tillering involved on your part to get an excellent bow. If I'm not mistaken the medium R/D boo backed ipe glue-up on page 3 of the newest 3Rivers catalog(master catalog 2011)is one of David's glue-ups. You can talk to david at primalneedarchery. He is very helpful and builds on of the best glue-ups I've seen. Many guys here have used David's glue-ups with excellent results.

I have bought two hickory blanks from Rudder in the past. Great price and a great product. We did very little to get the bow shooting arrows, mostly sanding.

I bought a asiatic style bow from the a few years ago, and  it had some issues but they took care of it and replaced it promptly. Good company imho

I broke about 5 red oak board bows trying to make my 1st self bow.  I ordered a hickory blank from Rudder bows and it was very forgiving to a newbie like me.

Turned out great and I'd buy from them again.

i bought a boo backed ipe from them. i'm not impressed. the boo is not consistant in thickness at all. glue lines are not that good. i would not buy from them again. others may have recieved a better product than i did. the bow was a floor tillered u finish bow.

I have never done business with them, but I have seen where a lot of people were unhappy with them.  There were also people that liked them too.

Gary Davis sells fine osage bow blanks that you finish.  He is a super nice guy.

I have had good luck with both blanks and ufinish bows from them.  For the price I think they are a good buy.

I have good experience with Rudderbows, and Jim is a stand-up guy.  I think if you had any issues he would make it right.

I had a hickory longbow that was a nice shooter (50 @ 27 or so), and I liked it.  So did someone else, as I sold it when I started collecting Bear stuff.

I have one of their finished bows that I was blessed to have the winning bid on from our St Jude auction.

I love it!

More importantly the youngsters that get to shoot it think it's the "cat's meow!".

Rudderbows gets a big thumbs up from me!!

God bless,Mudd
