Title: Hoyt Buffalo ( finally tuned in )
Post by: macksdad on January 04, 2011, 09:02:00 PM
A few weeks ago I ordered a Hoyt Buffalo  60",  #55 @28. The Hoyt dealer called today and said that it was in, I can't wait to get my hands on it. The only bad thing is I forgot to tell the wife that I ordered it and now it's here. I guess It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. LOL.  Hopefully I will be set up and tuned for spring turkey season.

macksdad - I've been trying to break it to my wife that I recently ordered a new bow.  Maybe tonight's the night, she's been drinking at an office party....

Can't wait for the pics.  I like my Dorado, and have been seriously intrigued by the Buffalo.  Congrats.

Yeah maybe I should take my wife out for a few drinks and then bring her home and show her the bow. Thats a heck of an idea.

Good luck with that.lol. You need to get enough bows that a new one will fit in without being noticed.

Boy that could go either way in my household.   :D  And it better not go the wrong way in that situation.

Luckily I am at the point of having a pretty good inventory, so she never really has a problem with me selling something in order to buy something.   :)

BobCo - The problem with having a large inventory is that she may have sold one well before you take notice.

Quite true, but, there is also a good point to having a nice inventory. She may not know if I sneak something in.   :)

I got to mess around with a 60# one, not enough to give a review.  But it felt a little heavy in the hands (which I don't mind, I'm use to heavier takedown bows).  It felt all of 60# and more I remember that (but most brand new bows/strings feel that way- a tad on the heavy side).

The grip was slim and it does have a neat look to it.  I'm curious what everyones thoughts will be after they spend some time with it.

I think that you will love your new Buffalo. I have a Durado, and I got to see the Buffalo in its protype at the Muzzy. Can't wait to hear.

Well I finally got a combination of arrow and point weight that works for me with the Buffalo.  Easton XX78 superslam 2315 30" bop with a 140gr field point. I have my brace set at 8 1/8 inches. This bow is super smooth and quiet at least to my standards. This is as close to a custom bow that I have ever shot .  I am impressed to say the least, tight groups and hitting very close to where I am looking. I split the nock and ferrule off of one of my new xx78 this morning I have never done that before. Made me feel kinda good when that happened then I remembered those things are like $7 each. many thanks to Stu Miller's Calculator, it saved me alot of time and money. Now all I need to do is practice, Turkey season is on it's way!!!   Still Haven't told the wife!

Steve,  I shot a 50# gamemasterII once, and really liked it.  Performed real well, felt it shot more like a 55# bow. I remember reading some comments about the gamemasterII afterwards that reflected my thoughts.  Like, buy 5#'s less than you want, it shoots heavier than it is, or it stacks some, go lighter on the poundage.  Is your buffalo pulling like a 55# bow to you.
