I've changed my anchor and am drawing just under 30 inches now, and most of my old bows stack.
I'd like a nice hunting bow that is relatively short, but doesn't stack...I have a Centaur that I love, but it is just 58", and I'm probably going to have to move to the 60-incher.
I'm really looking for a takedown with a heavy riser in the 60" range that is really smooth out to 30 inches.
Thanks!
Also, I don't like the ILF or metal riser bows. I like the feel of wood, and like my limbs bolted on.

I have about a 29.5" draw and love my 52" Cascade Nighthawk Mag. It has a Phenolic riser for the added weight you talked about.
Give Big Jim a call #229-344-1616
He has a 2pc. and 3pc version of the Buffalo bow and you can get the Thunder Child in a 2pc.
Both bows would accomodate you're draw and you won't talk to a nicer guy or a find a nicer bow.
I strongly advise you to look into a Dwyer bow, specifically a Dwyer Endevor. They are a sponsor here. Dave is a great man to deal with, I would give him a call. I have a legit 30 inch draw and can easily over draw over 31 inches. I have shot the endevor ... no finger pinch, very slight to almost no hand shock, pretty quiet, good quicks. Actually, the bow I shot was the protto type. I have heard the production bows are quieter and faster, likely no hand shock. Look into a Dwyer, they are built like bows two times their price.
Good Luck.
Bob.
I have a 30" draw and just recently picked up a dandy Ben Pearson Hunter of 58" AMO. It's only 48#@28" but kicks them out nicely and only weighs 1lb 12oz. Will make a sweet hunting bow. No perceptable stacking and is light and maueuverable. Surprisingly, no noticable finger pinch, either. I like Martins but the Mamba, also 58", killed me when I tried one of 50#. Fails only in your take-down feature.

OOPS ... I guess I forgot about the take down option. I do not think Dave amkes a take down Endeavor. Sorry.
Bob.
Look up St. Joe River Bows. http://stjoeriverbows.com/
They have a longer riser bow for added stability and there will be no problems with your draw length. I believe they can make you a 2pc takedown.
If you wanted to go shorter, their 56 inch recurve handles a long draw with no problem.
Recurves with static or semi-static tips give a little better string angle for a longer draw with a shorter bow. RER is one example.
If your looking for a heavy riser and a 60 inch bow a Talltines recurve is one I would consider.I draw 30 and its one of the smoother shooting bows for a long draw in that length bow that I have handled and has a substantial riser with alot of strength and mass weight packed into the riser!!!Its also a superb shooter with excellant performance.
60" Black Widow PSA or you could go to the PCH and a 58" or 60". My draw is right around 30" and I've had no problems with these bows. They have a demo program so you can try before you buy...Mike
I'll second the PSA, I have a 56" PSAX and at my draw of 26" there isn't a hint of stacking, so a 60" PSA should work real well for you.
Black Widow PCH. Test drive one and then you will order one. That's what happened to me.
You just described a 60" Black Widow PSA-V (Ironwood riser) that I can vouch for as not stacking out to 30". Other bows may meet that criteria as well, I just haven't found one yet.

Either Dan Toelke's 1 pc. Chinook or his Take down Curlew in 60" length will accomodate your draw length and then some. Both are superbly well mannered and exceptionally fast as well(they both love heavy arrows). The Chinook can be made as a 2 pc. take down utilizing the "Bow Bolt" system and in fact there is one on Dan's website www.montanabows.com. (http://www.montanabows.com.) Click on "traditional recurves".
Take a look at Dave Beeler's Trailblazer.
Take a look at the RER XR recurve. Very smooth for long draw guys
I shot Scott Mitchell's personal 56" Timberhawk premier recurve 3pc. takedown and it was as smooth as could be out to 30". I think it was 57@28. He has a try before you buy thing too.
I would look at that RER. The Black Widow PSA 60" iron wood I had was real smooth and heavy. The PCH 58" is great out to 30" and the 60" I have is really smooth. The Tall Tines is another great bow. Much depens on how heavy a riser you want.
hello,
Sid at Border can solve you problem easily with one of is Black Douglas, check out Pete's review and mail Sid.

Heard a lot of folks brag on the 50" Sheepeater by Black Mnt.
See Cascade shooters in this forum
My first choice would be a Big Jims "Thunderchild".I dont have one,yet but have heard nothing but saweet from all whom have shot them .My second would be a Bob Lee dark archer.Tested and true, dead in the hand, shoots were you look, and fast!Good luck.Too many great bows ,too little time.
Shrews do the job for me, 60" SS or a 56" CH. 29 3/4" draw.
Eric
You could look at the Dryad Orion with recurve limbs. They're static recurve and I'm shooting their ILF version at 62" and 30.5" and it's very smooth. You could certainly use the 60" version in the bolt down limb on the 15" riser and it would make you a happy camper. They're on the sponsor list. If you look back in TBM a year or two you'll see Blacky's bow review of this bow (the Orion bolt down recurve limb)in a 58" version. The force draw curve shows a very smooth draw out to 30" and dynamic efficiency of over 84%, which is excellent. They are great people to deal with and won't suger coat any responses to your questions.
Whup's, I'm going to make one additional note as a missed the heavy riser part. My Dryad doesn't have a beefy riser at all, so unless Dryad can beef up the riser for you, that may not fit your liking. I do feel that you'll really like that limb design with what you're looking for in draw length, bow length and smoothness. Anyway, I don't want to point anyone in the wrong direction.
I echo the comment on the Cascade Nighthawk. I have a Chekmate Cascade (basically a Cascade Golden Hawk Magnum)that seems smmoth out to 30" for me. It is only 52" AMO but fits my hand very nicely and I shoot it almost as good as my 62" Howatt Hunter.
I shoot a 58" Black Widow PCH @ 29" and just aquired a 60" Thunderstick MAG that shoots smooth as silk.
Talk with Steve Gorr of Cascade Archery, you won't regret it.
Jack Kempf 56" Kwyk Styk .
I shoot a 60" Bruin T/D by Mike Steliga of Antigo, WI. I draw 32" and it is a stack free bow all the way to my anchor. It is also an extremely quiet bow.
The only short bow I have been able to shoot consistently is a Whisperstick kajikastyk. I had a 56" one that I should have kept. Jd builds a sweet bow at a good price. I draw an honest 30"
I draw 31" and I just picked up this guy from Bama Bows. The Expedition. Its only the 3rd made and I love it. It is a departure from my 68" longbow but it will make a great travel/hunting bow.
