Well, I got my Haversack completed. It is all period correct material with the exception of the thread and sewing. I used red/blue ticking to do the inside. I made the blue ticking into two small inside pockets. I found the leather for the flap digging through some of my old junk. For the hook, I cut a piece of Surewood arrow shaft, drilled a hole through the middle and inserted a thin piece of leather. Then attached to front of bag to secure flap. I am going to coat the outside with Johnson's Paste Wax to help weather proof it.

I would like to thank my most beautiful wife for her sewing assistance! Without her, this project might not have come out so good! :D

Very nice and I can tell you had a great time doing it. You can always be proud to wear something you made yourself. And in having your wife share in experience is an added bonus.
I added a closer pic of the front of bag.
Looks even better! Who would have thought? Nice work.
Tom

Who'd a thought those metrosexual types would have taken a que from the burly woodsmen from days of old?
That will be handy, just like a possibles bag but larger.
T.W. thats one fine looking haversack, now grab your son and your bows and go spend a day in the woods. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Don't forget the wool blanket just in case.
Very nice!
Looks good, buddy!
Very cool! And very good of your wife to help you out, too.
Hey! My whole house looks like your laundry room!

Thanks Killy. My wife was a huge help with the sewing. Unfortunately, in the process, I think it caused her sewing machine to go limbs up! Good thinking her birthday is next month. She already picked out a new machine today. The assistance was worth a new machine though as I've got some other projects in the mind process. :D
