Hey guys, I need to know what type of glue to get for attaching the rubber-like grips to a Bear Mag riser. Is it available from hardware stores or must I order from an archery store?
Thanks
I have used Barge cement but I guess you could use any general purpose contact cement.
Jack
barge cement, but its hard to find
Gorilla glue, the thick gel type.
Try double sided carpet tape (make sure it is for carpets) works great; use it for rests, grips and other things that need to be stuck on.
Thanks folks .. I knew I could get a quick and accurate answer here! I'm getting ready to buy a few Bear Weatherrests from 3Rivers and I can order Barge Cement from them at the same time. 3Rivers ships very quickly.
Originally, they came with a thin double stick tape so you you could change them if you wanted to. That's what I'd go with.
Although not what you asked about (glue), what I've done with mine is to wrap a little duct tape on the riser where the grip goes, such that I have to "push" the grip on. That way I can take it off and on without redoing everything each time.
Like mnbwhtr said. I always used double sided tape on mine.
Shoe goo.
Guys,
A bunch of great suggestions. Thanks.
I bought some of the double-sided carpet tape at Lowe's an hour ago. It was about $6 and came in a large role (far more than I'll ever use for archery). Coming off the role it is looks like thin duct tape--one side is sticky and the other side isn't. I cut pieces to fit under the grip stuck them on, and peeled the blue off. The grip fit PERFECTLY and snug.
I'm very pleased with this solultion! This will be one of the best "finds" I've discovered (Thanks Gerry) in 2011 for my archery needs.
These grips now feel just like I remember them.
