This is my first attempt so, I made this haversack for my 10yr old son and he just loves it! You close the flap using a rubber band. That way, if it breaks or falls off, you just replace it with another.

hey Bro that is cool.well done :clapper:
Yes well done.
Very nice. Great job.
Very nice. What material did you use?
Looks like something from the Revolutionary War era. I like it. Is it made of some type of canvas?
Thanks everyone. It is made of a lightweight canvas that I bought at our local fabric store. I got all materials from the same store and bought extra to make one for myself.
I plan on making mine a little more extravagant but, needed to make a basic one first to get the feel of my creativity. My son has already filled it with a Pokemon book, Nintendo DS, games and his pocket knife. At least he got one outdoor tool in it! :biglaugh:
A "man bag" is very nice to have.
You did a nice job.
Post pictures of yours when you make it.
That is a nice piece of equipment, any young man would like.
You are a craftsman. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Pepper, just trying to keep it traditional. I have some blue ticking to sew as inside pockets when I make mine.
Nice job TW
they are ever so handy in the bush ... also lets you spend the day afield with a back quiver !
no back pack ... possibles haversack , back quiver and Hill bow ...
\\Nice !
Great job!
It really looks good and should be very handy.
Thanks for sharing!
God bless,Mudd
PS: The only negative thoughts for me is that your post reminds me that I've been looking for mine for a couple of months and it still hasn't shown up yet...lol
Thats a pretty nice job. Little boys love haversacks, it makes em feel like Indiana Jones. Oh the adventure to be had.
Good job!
I'm in the middle of making mine now. I put a red ticking material inside as a liner and blue ticking for the pocket and flap. It will be a little better than the one above. I find that this kind of thing is fun to make. My wife is coaching on the sewing machine use! :goldtooth:
When your done, you can waterproof it with bees wax and some low heat. Just be careful around a campfire. It works great I have carried a haversack in the woods for years. Great way to carry everything you need. Add a wool blanket and your set for a night or a week out.
Nice job. Looks like a good size.
Earl
Just completed mine on another thread.
