Sorry, I know this topic gets old, but after an hour of searching, I still would like to see or hear about the color.
I have been trying to decide on an Asbell pullover without hood. Thinking about the evening stand green... any pictures would be a great help.
Texas is not a very cold weather hunting state, so the decision to try wool is nerve racking. Thanks in advance for your patience,
Michael
Michael,
If it were me, I would call the Asbells and request a swatch of material(s)... Certainly they would have scraps of the various wools considering the amount of garments they produce. Of course, offer to cover the shipping costs if any... The only way you will be truly satisfied is to have the wool in hand and make the choice for yourself.
evening stand green is my choice. I have a vest from another vendor that looks to be the same and it is pretty nice looking. I will be ordering one of the heavier pull overs from the Asbells soon.

I have evening stand green, you can see it in this forum under Bois d ARC buck.Am pleased with every thing about the shirt.
I love my evening stand brown. It is better than any commercial pattern.
Michael-I have the evening stand brown and feel it works great. I had deer under 20 yds. several times, but unfortunately could not shoot! arrggh! You would have to decide green or brown; which color is present more or more dominant?
I recommend Asbell wool products anytime! Hope this helps!

I always have that problem in trying to decide by looking at a catalog so I procrastinate. It wasn't until I was able to go through the rack at the PBS event was I able to get off the fence, however I don't think the color I'm wearing in the photo is on the current web page.

Evening stand brown is my fav. But the green works very well in holly, pine and of cource green leaf. But both to me are so close that it is almost a toss-up.

Thanks so much for the input, and smoke that is a fine deer.
An extention or clarification to my question may be, does the evening stand green have browns and grays as it appears in the photographs? And vice-versus with the brown pattern?
I feel my need is almost a fifty-fifty split between the colors, but would lean more toward the green.
Anyway, thanks again to all that posted, as this is a wonderful site where almost silly questions get serious consideration and answers.

I purchased that same pattern in a hooded pullover off the rack at the Nashville PBS Banquet.I dont know the name of the pattern.
I bought a pullover @ Trad Epo West a few years ago it's a green plaid with some off white & red lines running through it. I really like it. It's very warm & just about windproof. If you get one, you'll love it.

The Asbell weight wool is perfect for Texas. I have a vest with hood which I love. Layered with a Pendleton wool shirt and a moisture wicking underwear top and you'll be good to go during the coldest part of the Texas season. I sold my KME because it was just too heavy. Ron's "Longhunter" shirt and Teresa's wool products are plenty heavy for this Texas/Oklahoma hunter.
Montana Magic is a great pattern
I have one in Timber Ghost with the hood and one in Montana Magic without and love them both.
Thanks again guys,
I talked to Mrs. Asbell today and ordered the pullover in Skyline. She was extremely helpful. Now I just have to wait...
i am really going to like this shirt, very well made and love the color. montana magic.
