Well we had 13 guys show up and lost 2 quick due to a family matter, but the hunt went on!! We had a blast and the 11 of us did the best we could!! Lots of action and we may of even killed a bunny or two!! You will have to wait for stories and such as I am starting to cramp up and have to nurse my wounds, lots of wildrose where we hunt!! OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
:campfire:
Stories!! Love them.
Well some guys have as long as 3 hr. drive home, but I will say that Peter(Mamba)has a tale to tell!! I have seen it done in person twice and once it was caught on film. Todays it was awesome!! I myself made an assist and also one of the best shots in my life, which I will tell about in a bit!! We also will have a few pics, to post as well!! Keep watchin this thread!! Shawn
Shawn, go take a nice hot shower. Then, get back to us when you have some clothes on.
... mike ...
I ain't telling, but I know that more than human blood was drawn......and on more than one bunny!!!!
Way to go guys, wish I could hvae been there! :clapper:
David
OK, I took a bath and am watching TCU game but here is a bit more. We took roughly 70 plus shots and we killed 5 bunnies! Tyler Williams who will be 16 tomorrow has been coming 2 these hunts for several years now killed his first today!! He has shot at many and hit a few but he shot one between the eyes today!! Homer(Matt) killed 2 today and missed as many as me!! Jeff Willliams(Tylers Dad) killed one as well and last but not least I made a decent shot on one as well. We had a blast and saw 30 plus bunnies today. Now hopefully others will be on to tell some stories!! We also had another catch and release which I hinted at in my earlier post. Pete(Mamba) hopefully will come on and tell his story!! To start it off I will say that this same rabbit was within a few inches of my boot and being shot at by several folks, all very safe by the way, when it finally come out of the pile and headed Petes way!! More to come! OOOHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
Well, I'm home and took my wet boots off. I only had an hour and 15 min ride home. But I gotta say, what a way to spend a New Years day! I was able to get off a few misses, but saw a whole lot more bunnies than I shot at. I think that it was as much fun as you could have with your clothes on.
Thanks again Shawn and Cindy!
I think that this is going to be good. Hap
Congrats..Jeff and T..T Happy Birthday..Lets see some pix...
Pics. are coming soon from Jamie!! We started our hunt down what we call the old road, it wasn't 10 minutes we we were putting out bunnies!! I shoot and miss and we move up and homer says here is another I beleieve we both shot and missed again. Than Homer shoots and hits him and as he runs out he stops and I shoot thru his nose and pin him to the ground, one dead bunny. We don't go another twenty yards and come to a pile that turn out had 4 bunnies under it!! Homer again gets his shot off and than, sorry gotta go eat a nanner crampin real bad!! Be Back soo......
Just got home, (3hrs) had 6 shots myself with no connections.
Had a blast as always! Shawn and Cindy are great hosts.
Can't wait for pics, keep it going.
Here is Pete in action! He started to swing his bow at the rabbit but instead gave it a heave and I looked back at a puff of snow and out came Pete with bunny in hand!

I had a great time and had one good shot at a rabbit going Mach 5, but shot right under him. Slung two more arrows at long range through thick brush. Killed a really nice sapling with one shot and I have no idea where the other one went.
Thanks again to Shawn and Cindy! What a great way to bring in the new year!
Great seeing you all again.
The old road at the first push.

Pete also let that bunny go, wasn't P&Y and not fair chase so he gave him a nice pet and gently let him go!! How cool is that??? I will have more in the morning, Matt and I had at least 10 shots each and we each missed a gimme or two!! Thanks guys, doing this with you all is the best medicine for me, ever!! Check out the smile on Tylers face and notice that arrow, right between the eyes!! Great shooting bud!! Shawn
Shawn thanks for taking us along, haven't seen that many bunnies in a long time not many around in lower alabama.
I have hunted a lot with Shawn and the guys. For me, it is on the same level as opening day, but better because of the friendships I have now. The excitement that builds....the hunts, the friends. The thorns.
This last year has been a bit rough for me. Im gald I have you guys around to chase bunnies with.
Thanks for introducing me to this stuff Shawn.
Oh, and I look like a cat climbed me. And I now need some reviews on boots, as the ones I wore today lost the battle with the multiflora rose bushes. I have never seen cordura rip like that...lol.
I wish I lived about 3 hours closer ! Looks like you had a blast !
Looks like a nice day was had.
You got that right Jamie! If I didn't have the pruning shears with me, I'd still be in the middle of a sticker bush!
I'm glad you were able to make it today. Nothing cleanses the brain like a good day afield. Striper season is just around the corner.
Shawn and Cindy thanks again for everything!
Shawn- It was great to be in the thick of it with you, Jamie and Pete again and see lots of bunnies. Even the weather was great. Hope everyone had safe travels home. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family everyday. Maybe I can get some pics of Pete's great catch up tomorrow. Going to get some sleep and try to gett rid of these cramps...
ttyl.
Matt :archer:
man you guys are luuuuucky.
nice group , nice harvest
-hov
Nice shooting No No Boy
Well done fellas!!!
Thanks Shawn! Brian and had an awsome time.We each got a shot at the catch and release bunny but didnt connect. It was the rabbits lucky day.Must have been the 4 lucky rabbits he was carrying.I have to say that with all the health issues that Shawn is dealing with it hasnt slowed him down at all.I watched him dive into a NASTY pile of thorns to grab Homers bunny.Nice to see Tyler and his dad Jeff complete the family double.Homer was on fire with a fine double of his own.A great way to spend new years day with some great guys. Thanks Shawn and Cindy for always making us feel at home.Shawn also made a great shot at a last minute bunny. Thanks for having us up.Glen
4 lucky rabbits feet that is
Thanks for having us again,Shawn and Cindy. You two are the best!
Tyler and I had a great time and we couldn't have spent a day with a finer bunch. When I heard Shawn was going to have this hunt I 'knew' what I was doing NEW YEARS DAY...wouldn't have missed it.Can't wait 'til the next one.
Way to go on your double,Homer.Pete,I've never heard of anyone grabbing a bunny like that...very cool!Almost makes shooting one seem like cheating.HA!
It was good seeing everybody again and we got some bunnys too.OOOOHHHH YEAHHHHHH!!!!
Hey thanks alot Cindy and Shawn, you guys are too generous!!!! We really appreciate your hospitality. Yes I dove and caught a bunny by hand but Shawn is down playing his perfect running shot to end the day. I skinned that baby and what penetration!!!! Perfect shot behind the front leg. I'll be having fresh rabbit for dinner. I don't know many guys that would share such prime hunting grounds with others. What a great example for us all. Thank you very much.
Pete
Not afraid to admit it......."I'm jealous in New Hampshire....... ;) "
David
I'm Happy For The Bunch Of Ya! Glad it was a good time for all. It just wasn't in the cards for me to be there, this time...
... mike ...
Looks like a great time. Cut my bow hunting teeth on bunnies in multiflora rose. Only snowshoe hares up here, and they are few and far between these days thanks to the yotes. Thanks for sharing.
Guys we will do it again soon!! It was getting dark and I sneaked ahead of Matt(homer) on the final push. I see him enter a thick pile, I see him start to draw and as he is yelling BUNNY coming at ya Shawn, I had already seen the bunny busting out. He was streaking towards me and I thought he was gonna slow down, but he had another gear and kicked it in. I swung with him as he went by and just kept swinging and let her loose, it smacked him right behind the shoulder at about 8-10 yards, it was one of the better shots I have ever made. Lots of bunnies around here even though the coyotes are out hunting, I think they prefer venison. Can't wait until the next time!! Shawn
TTT for the afternoon crowd!! We had several piles where we had 3 or 4 bunnies under thyem and they held so tight they all never would come out after 3 or 4 guys jumping the pile. I believe this is due to the coyote pressure and they have learned to hold tight or risk dying!! I want to really thank Homer(Matt)as he inspires me to keep going, he pushes me as I do him and we both get the job done!! Thankyou buddy!! Everyone who knows me know I am a fighter and you all made me forget all my troubles yesterday and that I am forever greatfull!! Thanks guys! Shawn
Looks like great fun and thanks for the pics!
Just glad to have been part of it,Shawn.Your going to get through this and thanks for all you and Cindy do for us. :notworthy:
When I arrived home last night I was pretty tired. I forgot to thank all my new found TradGang friends and the the old ones who it was nice to see again.
Jim I've got a Tinker on order!
Nothing you wouldn't, and haven't already done, for the rest of us Shawn.
BUNNNNYYYYYY!!!!......got em!..........OOOHHH YYYYEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Nothing like it.
Ho men, this is great now I just wanna go in the woods!
Looks like a great time, but I've never been interested in HIGH FENCE hunts. Just not fair. :biglaugh:
Actually that is an airport and it is fenced in all 98 acres we were on the outside, although Jamie and Jeff had to climb over to get a few arrows!! It was in our family for years and now the owners don'tt bother us at all!! Shawn
Shawn or Jamie- i got my pics uploaded to photobucket.. but can only figure out how to put a link up.. how do i put the actual pics up? can you send me a PM?
thanks
matt
shawn looks like you guys are having way to much fun up there. way to go Buddy :clapper: :clapper:
Wish I was there fella's, I know the fun that was had. Hope to make the next one.
Congratulations on the fun safe hunt.
Shawn- this ones for you. Nobody can tell me any difference, the only fence line I saw yesterday was the red brush I saw as I was going thru it. The shot you made yesterday at the end, was certainly the way to end the day. Hope to hear from you guys soon. I'd give you a few good stories, but seems like you have it wrapped up pretty well. Always a pleasure hunting with you and the boys- made for a great new years day.
Sounds like a fantastic hunt!!! Hard to beat bunnies with a bow. I'll be headed out this week here!
Congratulations on a fun hunt!

After the way I whooped on Pete and Matt at the Muzzy they probably wont show themselves if they know Im coming. At least thats the way I remember it happened. :biglaugh:
Ill be headed down into Connecticut soon, hope to run into you 2 fellas.
Izzy- heres my email address, please let me know when you are comming, I will get you my number and we will get together when you are in CT. I think that your memory of the muzzy is a little fuzzy- Pete and I will fix it.
I want in. I will be in the Hudson Valley Next weekend. After that I am reserved for bunnies.
If anyone has a good place for bunnies between Saugerties and Newburgh let me know. I have a couple of powerlines in mind but haven't scouted them yet.
I need to hunt again. Soon.
Jamie, do you mean you feel like killing something or just hunting! After the year you had I'm thinking the first option! :)
