I have looked and looked each year on the property I hunt. Have only found a handful of sheds. Then shot a buck one fall and this is what he fell dead on buried in the grass. 10 points on the half rack.

trubl you need to resize your photo to 600 pixels or under or it will probably be deleted.

Great pictures keep it up. Shed hunting is always great fun and a good workout. I wont be going out until march, way too much snow here to get to the areas that I look for sheds.

Sheds tend to be found in 3 areas, bedding, feeding and travel corridors.  Deer use different bedding areas in the cold winter/spring months than in the summer, so look for south facing areas that have fairly thick cover.  The south facing slopes get more sun and the brush/trees cut the wind which reduces the energy expenditure of the deer.  It's best to wait until spring hits to look for sheds as the deer are quite stressed this time of year, mostly from the rut and cold weather, so hiking around pushing them out of their "living rooms" can put an undo demand on them.  Some unscrupulous people deliberately push the deer hoping their antlers will fall off in flight, so be considerate of the resource and wait 'til it warms up to start looking.

nice picks everyone!!! Yes I also look in bedding areas and feeding areas and travel routes...My dog is trained not to chase deer and he helps find sheds when they are fresh . If we see a deer in the area we plan to look....we leave him alone...and move on...I don't like stressing the deer. I use my binoculars to look in fields where the deer feed looking for anything that sticks up off the ground. In bedding areas I look  in narrow trail areas a buck might catch his antlers on a branch. Really got lucky on that find of the big guy...kinda had him figured on his bedding area and lucky to find them when they were fresh

I have never done it but I have heard of antler traps. basically it is 3 poles driven into the ground  about 4' long in a triangle. Put chicken wire on the top 18" or so and put corn or apples. I think the poles or 18"-20" or so. Anyone ever use them. I still do it the hard way and never find them. I go out after morels or turkey and bam there they are.

Found these in the '10 spring turkey season.  Never knew this deer was around, and this is an area that I hunt and am very familar with.  No luck this year, but know of someone catching him on a trail cam after the firearms season...Mike
