It's Jan 1. The mule deer season opened at sunrise. I looked at the thermometer -1 degree. Looked out the window. There is about 8" of crunchy snow, and the truck doors look like they are frozen shut. Never before would this deter me. Think I'll get a little more sleep and see how things look this P.M.

A good breakfast might help. If nothing else...it`s a good breakfast. :wavey:
I know the feeling....
If I get cold and stay cold, I'm miserable. If I'm miserable, I don't enjoy hunting.
Cool Arrow your not old it is very hard to get close to any animal when the snow is so load they here you coming a mile away.
Thats why Im goin south the pelloncillos happy hunting
One thing about it, if you muster up the energy to get started you will always be thankfull you decided to go.
I agree with silvertip73, once out, your always happy you went.
Not so sure about that. I've forced the issue before and just ended up miserable. Sometimes it is just beating a dead horse. Especially in the late season.
Getting older and getting smarter!
For years I thought once I retire I am going to hunt all the time everyday of the season.
As I get older hate to say it but after a while you start picking your days. Too cold, windy, suppose to rain, or I will do it tomorrow I have all season. The worst part is I can't get around as well to do it. It is nice though not having to plan around work.
I know the feeling, the wool don't keep me as warm as it use to. Now I look like I'm 4 years old again and mom dressed me up to go play in the snow. I feel like the staypuff marshmellow man. I'm lucky if I can draw my bow let alone hit anything.
I know I have become more particular about the weather. If it is cold in the morning I will wait until the sun is up and then go. But I hunt most evenings.
Sure glad to hear that I'm not the only Trad. Wuss.

Its tough to get goin this time of year. Its takes me alot to gather up the energy to get out in the cold...and I like cold weather.
