What would you rather hunt Small game or big game?
What Small game would it be?
What Large game would it be?
I love hunting rabbits, wouldn't mind getting some squirrels with the bow if I get the chance to draw back on one.
15 years ago I said if I was allowed to hunt only one thing a year it would be squirrels becaue the season was so long and bag limit so liberal.
However, these days the deer season is almost as long and the bag limit where I hunt is unlimited for does.
So, while I love to squirrel hunt, deer are my favorite.
I'm a deer hunter first and foremost. When they are out of season or I'm getting burned out then, I'd enjoy hunting rabbits more if we had more of them.
Since rabbit populations seem so low here (coyote predation is the culprit, I think), then I guess I have to go with squirrels.
Deer during the season and hogs year round!
1.deer 2.turkey/bobcat 3.coyote 4.racoon 5. rabbit 6.squirrel/ground hog/opposum
1. Elk (b. Bison c. Moose)- large game
2. Turkey-small game
*Killed plenty of turkeys. Never killed a big game animal other than deer & hogs, plenty also.
Everyone usually wants whats on the other side of the fence but I love our whitetail deer. Would rather hunt them out of any game I could choose.
Really good rabbit hunting and a good buddy or two is hard to beat!
I only bowhunt large
Elk, have only done it five times cuz I live on the east coast. The breathtaking country, physical challenge, constant pursuit...it blows me away every time.
Small game -- rabbits and squirrels
Large game wild hogs tough I have only ever taken 5 due to lack of them in the area. Just find them easier than deer!! deer I seem to stink! LOL

Big game. Deer (white tails and muleys) elk, moose, antelope, bear, turkey, in that order, but the distance between them is very small, i.e., I like to hunt them all. Would like to hunt caribou sometime.
Squirrels, ground and tree!
Rabbits would be too, if we had any to speak of.
Love hunting coons in late season, when their breeding and the weather cooperates!
Oh and don't forget my favorite, Bowfishing, too!
I forgot to mention Bowfishing, that is another choice that is pretty high on my list.
Where is everybody from also?
I would like a chance at a place to take as many does as I can and want. Talk about a cookout....
Mountain goats #1 big; western (prefer Wyoming) cottontails #1 small
Whitetail deer is what I live for. I get a rush EVERY time i see one. I enjoy everything else, but everything else just holds me over till deer season again.
Big game. Since my state of Texas has initiated a buck antler restriction rule of 13" inside spread, I'm gravitating to feral hogs and javelina.
If I could only hunt one animal, it would be squirrels.
I choose big game. Turkey hunting here is great, although I like deer more.
Hogs, year around season and no bag limit
If I could only hunt one animal a year it would be whitetail (385 miles from home)... but... that is not the case so.. I hunt elk 18 days every year, (only 50 miles from my front door)
Coyotes then squirrels and rabbits
Nothing blows my hair back like spot and stalk mule deer hunting.
As far as small game goes, cottontails.
I'm with Charlie. Anymore I think I'd rather hunt small game with my kids than just about anything else. I also really, really like hunting blacktail deer though. Guess I'm glad I don't have to choose ;)
Well there's
Grouse
Hogs
Elk
Moose
Did I mention Grouse?
Mike
Large...Whitetails Small...Carp

Yes Sir!!
I love to rabbit hunt.
I actually love stump shooting the most. I like hunting, and seeing game is important. Not so much GETTING game but once in a while that is important as well. I like skwerl hunting a bunch, but don't have, or take, a lot of time to do it. Wait till I retire !

oh...that is a good question! And a difficult one to answer.
I think that during the 30+ years in Michigan that I hunted with trad gear I remember hunting anything that was legal...I always carried a small game arrow in my quiver but really never took too many little critters those days.
When my son Andy was old enough to learn the woods, I changed my focus and walked the sunny warm days with him when ever I had enough time. Those days were just plain fun and relaxing. There was no self-imposed pressure to harvest a monster buck.
I guess what Charlie said about being with a good friend (or family)- that is tuff to beat. Nowadays, I would choose the small game hunt for the fellowship/friendship.
#1 Javelina ( hogs),#2 mule deer#3,antelope,#4 elk, it used to be elk(1) but maybe Iam getting old, they are alot of work. Javelina now because we dont take the hunting real serious just have a good time. You can shoot two of them then concentrate on hogs, so you get alot of shooting in and its a kick the ass.
Elk. Mulies spot and stalk are close, but elk will always carry the day.
I appreciate everybody's in put and good luck to every body on there adventures to come.

Small game is my sport. Be it squirrel or rabbit. You just can't beat a day of walking around with your buddy(Son,Brother,Wife,Daughter,Etc) and enjoying the time spent together while doing something that all will remember and carry with them the rest of thier days.
Those days in the past and in the future I will never forget and always look forward to.
My favorite is a mature mule deer. Not that I don't shoot small ones but old mule deer are just so elusive they light a fire within me.
Small game is a toss up between cottontails and grouse. I have harvested more small game than all my big species combined. I have had just as much fun chasing the small game during many big game hunts than the speices that was I was hunting.
