Sorry about the previous post as this was a combo hunting trip bow/rifle, that became a bow only hunting trip, thought I brought that out in the story.
It was a blast being down in the great state of Texas and I hope to go again, the people are real nice and very friendly and I thank them all.
The terrain is very interesting as in some parts of the property I could see real far and in others I couldn't see at all. You could also walk around pretty quietly even though it was very dry where I was in Sabinal as they are having drought conditions.
I have never stalked up on to a deer that is bed down and I was only looking for a buck with a big rack since the owner didn't need any meat and only wanted big bucks taken at that time, so when I saw this brown rock laying about 15 yards from me I thought is was just that a brown rock. As I start to turn it takes off and I see the proverbial white tail, didn't know at that time if was a buck or not didn't matter as all I could shoot is a big mature buck and that is what I was looking for, and couldn't tell anything when it was bed down. Still very nice to have been able to stalk up to it.
Went out stalking in the AM, had a feeling I was being watched, but couldn't see anything so continued to move ever so slowly through the brush making no noise, or at least trying to. Still have this feeling of being watched so I scan the area and catch some movement just up in front of me, and what do I see, not one of them but a bunch of these potentially dangerous animals crossing the trail in front about 30-35 yds. up form me. I freeze, they freeze, and so it starts, who will blink first. They have me in the center of the trail, and I am thinking, I'm in trouble. If there were one or two maybe I would have a chance but not with this many. To my surprise they just continue across the the trail and don't pay me no mind. So now I figure I can move off to the left and maybe intercept them, which is what I do. Moving ever so slowly through the bush trying to guess at the right angle to start my stalk, when wouldn't you know it, there they are again but now only about 8-10 yds. from me, I freeze, can't move a muscle or they will bust me for sure, and then it's them against me with only one shot before they are all over me, and I have no firearms. I pick one out raise the bow ever so slowly pick out a spot and concentrate really hard, and the arrow is gone. Perfect shot, right on the spot I picked. I quickly nock another arrow and brace for the onslaught of the others since one of there own is down. To my surprise they just start to leave, I don't have another shot as they are gone like a flash into the bush, and I have my first ever,

While going to the afternoon hunt my buddy told me he has been on the ranch since he was a kid and has only seen two coyotes, and only got a shot at one of them with the rifle and missed. So he said he would be very surprised if I even saw a yote let alone get a shot at it with the bow. Me trying to be a Trad. die-hard stuck with the bow anyway. While hunting form the ground, as the sun dropped below the trees and you knew dark was on the way, I see a fast moving streak come into my area in a circular movement which brings it about 30-35 yds. from me. Being from Jersey, I think at first glance it's a fox, but then think it's a little too large to be a fox and realize it is indeed a coyote. He is looking from side to side scanning for anything to eat. He then makes another fast moving circular movement which brings him to 6-8 feet from me, and then he looks right at me. He never knew I was there, I could have reached out with the bow and cracked him over the head, he was so close, but no shot at this time. Then He starts moving and ends up giving me a broadside shot at 15-18, and I blew it, didn't pick a spot and shot right over his vitals. It was still exciting having him that close. It was a great trip for me and I can't wait to back.
