I was polishing up my 70# Bear Kodiak I just bought here from a Tradganger, and using Birchwood / Casey Stock sheen (whichs polishes wood up nice), and without too much effort, buffed all the markings off the riser! It was written in white, and I can still make out what was written, but I want to re-mark it, for my son, or whomever down the road after I'm gone. Under the sight window, it says 72#, but I want to rewrite the serial number and 70# designation. What should I use to make it last?
Thanks in advance!
The markings should have been under the finish, so it may have been redone at one point.
I use white ink and a fine caligraphy pen to mark mine, but it's not very permanent without a finish over the top of it.
Like Whip said,I also used a fine caligraphy pen with some white ink to mark a HH and Dryad bow blanks I've done. You can write fine lines and put under the finish it look great.A lot of the older Bears were marked like 70XX and the correct poundage was under the side plate. Each X was a pound,if it was in front like XX70 it would be 68#.
