Being new to the forum. I wondered if it was acceptable to ask people what they think a fair price for a bow is(since I have little idea what used bows are worth). That is not being sold here?
And you will get many answers! A fair price [to me] is what i am willing to pay for it. In today's economy it is a buyers market when it comes to bows. 50 to 60% of the original price, if the bow is in excellent conditon, would not be out of line. Some bows (just like cars) hold their value better than others and will command a better price. Centaurs, A & H archery, black widows, Leon Stewart's, Cari-Bows, Griffins, Morrisons, Shrews, etc are a few that hold up their price pretty well.

Surely it is worth more to someone who had one as a kid or who remembers their father shooting one.
Just as a guess: a normally used one in good shape with no faults beyond cosmetic might be worth 100 to 120. With a new string add a few $. A spotless one without a scuff or scratch, good lettering and in truly excellent shape - $200 to $250. Especially if it's a needed piece for someone pulling together a collection.
The one you're talking about, with box, has a bit going for it and looks to be a great shooter. I'd put $140 as where it ends up.
But I was blown away last week when a Bear Polar sold for more than twice what I thought it was worth.
Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason to what is paid for an old bow at the auctions - not long ago a Pearson Silver Sovereign went for forty-five bucks, and a Pearson All American went for almost seventy-five the same day.
In todays economy bow prices are down,unless they are selling a highly sought after bow.I just look at the classifieds and see what the prices are and how long it in the classifieds.
Stumpkiller has it right. That should be the range that bow would sell for.

In my opinion that will be a tough bow to sell. I have had a few of those, I found that the appearance/design is not one today's shooters buy.
I would say $75-$100 tops.
Yeah, but you might get a variety of opinions.
I got a decent Ben Pearson off Eb%^y for $85. Probably should have gone for more like $100- $120. The bow had no holes in the riser or deep blemishes. It had some cosmetic issues, but not much that can't be buffed out.

if you are a newbie to trad, best stay away from old bows - the palomino you mention is a target bow and a very old one at that. old bows, particularly old glass from the 60's and 70's, are worth more for nostalgic rather than functional value.
if you are new to trad, you would be best served finding a qualified mentor to help with fitting a bow to you, and not the other way around.
I was pretty close. It sold for $154.49 instead of the $140 I guessed.
