Title: wyoming/montana bowyers
Post by: Hermon on December 26, 2010, 08:31:00 PM
Family is taking a vacation to Yellowstone this summer and I wondered what bowyers were near there? Thought that I might try to stop by some if they were close.  Thanks.

Herb Meland in Casper, probably at least six hours also.

Rich Wormington is in Lovell, a little closer.

Dave and Beth Windauer-Silvertip bows are in Kalispel. Dale Dye is also in Montana but not quite sure where.

Lots of bow builders in Hamilton, Mt.,  area which isn't too far away.  Howard Hill, Thunderhorn, Selway I think, Whispering Wind arrows, and a few others that I can't recall right now.

Dick Robertson is in Forest Grove (according to his web site.  Don't know what part of the state that's in.

Kalispell is another 50 or so miles north of Ronan so it's at least 6-7 hours away, but both on the way if you decide to also visit Glacier.

I wont repeat what others have already.  Lots of good bowyers around.  Dan Toelke would be a great visit if you head that way.  I will have one of his Whip bows in a few days and have some of my own bows I design and build to play with.  I live closer to Yellowstone if you want to shoot one of Dans bows or Stump shoot or what not.  I'm in Belgrade (next to Bozeman).
PM me if the mood strikes...we go camping every other week in the summer after Spring bear wraps up but other than that I'll be around.
Randy.

Dan Toelke is an hour north of Missoula. It is a great visit and he has 3d targets set up for you to shoot any of his bows and if you see his shop you'll understand how he can deliver a custom bow order in 3 to 5 weeks. You will not meet nicer people than Dan and his family as well.

Been to Herbs and Dan's.  If you are willing to drive 6 hours or so, spend the time heading north.  Take a fly rod and a camera too.
