No rabbits in the bag, but we had a good morning. Daisy ran 3, I probably could have killed them all with a shotgun.
The first one we chased this morning must be one that beat us last year....no circling, it just straight lined for 1/2 mile. I felt bad but I had to call her off.

Looks like a ton of fun Roger!!
The next couple ran figure 8's between Daisy and I in the thick stuff. I refuse to comment as to how many arrows I have left....

Hunting rabbits with a dog takes me back to when i was a kid. Some of the most fun their is.
Sounds like a great day!
Roger,
I sure nuff could have used Daisy last weekend. I was hound and shooter in the sage brush. Many shots taken but all escaped with their hide. No lost arrows, though.
Huntin cottontails is a blast. Thanks for the photos and story.
Pretty looking beagle. Great times spent in the woods with a good hunting buddy.
Earl

Isn't that how we are supposed to treat hunting dogs!! LOL
Thanks for sharing, brings back a lot of memories for me as well.
Ray - Sounds good to me!!! Start working on Ron!!
daisy's a sweetheart, getting her in shape for the Bunny Stomp?!
How old is Daisy? She's a beauty!
I recently was given an 8 month old female beagle, Polly. Some good friends are serious houndsmen and they had a litter of pups from some proven rabbit runners. I guess they had here running with the "big" dogs real young.
I've had Polly out two or three times behind the house and she's working real hard and actually comes when I call her better than my boys! Have not been able to get a track going yet but it's lots of fun watching her work.
Drew - Daisy will absolutely be at the STOMP ;0)
mparks, she's almost 2m still young. She comes from a solid hunting line. This is her second season, she is doing great.Get that pup out there, she will train herself if you put her on enough rabbit scent.
Roger,
It looks funny seeing you carrying a Classic Hunter rather than a Li'l Favorite.
Allan
Ha! My son Danny said the same thing! Nothing can replace my Lil Fav...but it's fun fiddling with a longbow again. This Armstrong Ghost is certainly proving itself. This was it's first rabbit hunting trip, I liked how quick I could get an arrow off.
Love it!
Begals are wonderful dogs aren't they!
