I think I have lit a traditional fire that will burn for a lifetime. At least I sure hope so!
I have been busy making my 2 Nephew's Tucker (8yr.old) and Garrett (6yr. old) each a real Osage Longbow for Christmas.
I just barely got them done in time for our family get together this past weekend. The 6yr. old isn't really that much into it yet, but Tucker the 8yr. old is absolutely in love with shooting his bow!
For an 8yr. old boy, he's pretty darn good at it too! If he keeps practicing like he has been, I may just have him in the woods bow hunting for deer before he's even 12 yr. old? I hope to keep working him up in poundage till he can at least shoot a 40lb. recurve or maybe another Longbow? He's definitely got the passion for it.
Here's some pics of their Osage longbows and a video link below.

Very Nice! Enjoyed it! Great little shooter! I especially liked the "runnin' duffle-bag"! :biglaugh:
Thanks Guys.
Yeah, that's my 2 year old nephew Nathan. He looked like one of those mascots at baseball games that come running out during the 7th inning stretch that are dressed up in hot dog suits or something.
In this case he looked like a duffle bag that sprouted little legs.
He's a future project that I'll have to work on in another 6 years or so.
All 4 of my nephews will have a bow in their hand by the time they are 8 if I have anything to do with it.
very cool!! he'll be in the bow stand with you in no time!! :clapper:
Awesome! They must be happy...they are grinnin' like two possums eatin' @*!#
they look great, good work.
Thank you all.
I'm still learning, but I think my bowyer skills are getting a little better all the time?
At least I hope so.
I try and listen to what the experts and the older guys are saying and apply their good advice to my work.
I wanna give a shout out to Eric Krewson, he's a super awesome guy! He gives great advice and sent me a Gizmo out of the goodness of his heart.
Thanks Eric!
Very nice! Good looking bows and a great family.

the new Sackston Pope and Art Young.
Yeah......you never know what can happen when you start a little fire?
He already has the passion and wants to hunt, the younger one isn't all that interested yet, but he will be when he sees how good his older brother is at it then he will want to get in on the action.
