Title: ILF Short Bow Question - Need advice on limb length.
Post by: azhunter on December 18, 2010, 11:05:00 AM
I am getting a Morrison mini 13 metal riser. I draw right at 28". When ordering longbow limbs, what is the shortest limb that will be comfortable without stacking. I understand that the medium limbs will make a 56" bow, but in talking to a few people about limbs I have been told that I should go with long limbs to make a 58" bow. Was a little surprised that the 56" bow would not work at my draw length since this is a 13" riser. I have had short bows in the past like the 54" Shrew Classic hunter with no problems. Is there something that makes the ILF different in regard to needing a little longer bow? What are your thoughts. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I have the Mini-14 riser with the "C" length limbs that produce a 56" bow. My draw length is 29.5" and I am right on the limits of the bow, but it shoots very well. I don't think you will have a bit of problem with the 56" setup you are describing. On the other hand, you can't compare a Morrison to a Shrew Classic Hunter as far as the lengths go. A 56" Shrew Classic Hunter can accommodate a draw length of more than 32", but the 56" Morrison Mini-14 (or Mini-13) ILF is maxed out at 29.5" of draw. Get the 56" Morrison you are thinking about -- you will be extremely pleased with it! Or if having a somewhat smoother draw is more important to you than having a shorter length bow, go up to the "D" limbs and a 58" length. Either bow is great.

Personally I went with long limbs on my Mini 13 and I really love the smoothness. I have a pair of medium limbs and the bow "feels" tight if you know what I mean.

Bob Morrison is the best man to answer your question. He knows that riser better than anyone else.

When I ordered my Mini-14 from Bob he said that the "C" limbs at 56" would work for my 28" draw....He was Right!

I have a Morrison 15" ILF mated to short DAALA limbs that makes a 56" bow, which feels like it shoots equivalent to my 17" DAS Daala with the same limbs making a 58" bow.

I draw just over 27", I agree with the others and would think that you could shoot a 56" rig very comfortable Mark.
