Where I hunt it is common to see several dozen while hunting and although for us Aussies we don't think anything of it.
Thought my fellow Trad Ganger's might like to see.

Stocky little bloke, Paul. Good photo.
What does kangaroo meat taste like? He's got some good-sized drumsticks.
Much obliged for the photo. Do you guys hunt them? Eat them? What do they taste like?
Don't see many of those here in PA...
'Roos taste a bit like wallabies, but we're not allowed to hunt them.
Back about five years ago a fully grown kangaroo was found and captured near Dodgeville Wisconsin. As far as I know they never did figure out where it came from.
Fascinating creatures! Thanks for a cool pic!
I'll bite. What do Wallabies taste like? Kangaroo right?
Keeping the Faith!
Magnus
Nothing ruins a good stalk like a 'roo busting out of the brush right in front of you (and your quarry)!
Thank you Piggy for posting such a cool picture.
I assume, based on the color that it's a gray?
He looks "buff" for sure.
God bless,Mudd
We can't hunt them but you can buy the meat, love the old kanga banga its bit like beef but not nearly as fatty.
God bless,
Ari
do they sell roo leather there? I have a roo strop for My straight razor but might want to get some more.
One of the neatest things for me in Oz was seeing the wallabies. The first several times you can't believe what you are seeing. I have lots of video of them hopping around.
Not only do they wreck stalks by spooking game, it will about make you crap yourself when you are stalking buffalo in the high grass and one of these outfits takes off like a bulldozer 20 feet away. Talk about clearing the old arteries for you!

Looks a lot like my mother-inlaw
Anyone remember the phrase
"Hoppin' Mc'hamburgers" from years ago? Supposedly we ate a bit of kangaroo here in the US disgiusied as beef.
Roo meat is yum yum i had a good feed when i went over there to see my Brotherinlaw but they are not aloud to hunt em.
Roo is pretty good, rich and lean, much like venison. It's wonderful on the BBQ. Only licensed (professional) shooters are allowed to kill them on a cull basis, usually off farms or golf courses where they are a nuisance. There is no "sport" hunting of them allowed. Overall, not much of the meat is used for human consumption, most of it goes into pet food. Many, many of them are hit by cars and most vehicles have 'roo bars on the front to limit the damage. Seeing one running (hopping?) full tilt through the bush is pretty amazing, they can cover some major ground in a hurry!
how long has it been illegal to hunt them? Is it the same in all states?
I heard that they will kick the snot outta ya if ya get to close or they feel threatened?
Any of you blokes from Aussie ever get your arse kicked by a Roo? :knothead: :biglaugh:
Acolobowhunter....We may have married sisters...RC
Great photo! Thanks!
I really want a roo leather hat!
Looks like he's ready to kick someones butt....Phil
I ate roo meat once . it did not taste too bad but it made my stomach feel a little jumpy
You've got the same chance of getting attacked by a 'roo as you do by a whitetail.
That said, in over fifty years worth of tens of thousands of 'roo encounters in the bush, my Dad did once have to leg-it back to the ute with a big buck 'roo on his tail; he was out checking a fence, and he reached his rifle just in time. But as I said, stuff like that hardly ever happens.
Like this Ben?

I saw that video a long time ago Guido.
That guy put deer scent all over his body just to see if he could provoke a whitetail into attacking him.........I guess it worked, maybe a little too well? :knothead:
He's an idiot in my opinion. He could have gotten killed and it tells you right on the bottle of scent "Do Not Put on Clothing or Body"
There was a true story one time in Outdoor Life magazine I believe, where a 10yr. old boy was attacked by a whitetail buck while squirrel hunting. The buck hooked him under the strap of his bib overalls and carried him through the woods until his father heard him screaming and came to help. The father managed to chase them down and get his boy free of the bucks headgear.
They think that the blood on the boy's bibs from the squirrels he had killed is what provoked the deer to attack? Who knows, but it happens occasionally.
I can't seem to get one close enough to attack me, one whiff and they all run away! :goldtooth:
Semo,
Didn't mean to put a year on that... That guy was out Elk hunting and a White tail came in and kicked His Butt... Still funny to see someone doing dumb Sh!t

:biglaugh:  Something tells me a lot of others on here married one of the sisters (including me) as well! Although, I hope my mother-in-law doesn't have the same "parts" that this roo has! Thanks a lot...now that you've brought this up, I'm gonna hafta struggle to not see this kangaroo in my mind next time I see her!
I think I'd soil my pants if one of those guys jumped outta the bush in front of me while stalking...especially if it looked so similar to my mother-in-law!
Anyway, thanks for the cool pic!
