Gentleman and Gentlewomen,
I just cannot stop thinking of Chris and his family right now. I have never had the previlage of meeting or sharing camp with Chris and from what I have read lately I sure have missed out on some great memories. We shared a lot in common... Son, Trad Ganger, Patriot and Im sure you all can relate too in your own ways.
After reading the very sad news and immediately contributing to his memorial fund (mail goes out first thing tomorrow Terry), I sit here and wish I just could do more.
So, I have an idea. I have two (2) dozen chundoo shafts full length (66-67# and 420-426 gpi) that I would like to send to fellow trad gangers to finish (seal, fletch, nock and point). Maybe in a red, white, blue, Partiotic motif. I am hoping someone could put his or her own expertice into these and we could send them to Chris' family to pass out to family members or auction them off and donate what is made to the family or to St. Judes in the Surtees name.
I feel as if I need to do something and maybe you do too. I need all of your help.
If you would like to participate in this please post what it is you can do to help make this happen.
So what do you all think???
Any help Im sure would be appreciated.
Forgive me if this is not the right time or place to do this. Again, I just feel I need to do more.
Respectfully Brad Davis and Family.
:help: :campfire:
Huge Brad!! Thanks. My arrows are strickly utilitarian & not pretty by any means. Let me think about how I can add to your good measure. I'm sure other folks will get hooked up here pdq. Chris brought light to the whole place.
I will pay for all the feathers.

straitera and Onions. Thank you! :notworthy:
Have some red, white nocks.
I'll provide the tips, be it BHs, or field points or whatever else is appropriate depending on their purpose once finished.
I would be honored to build all or some of the arrows. Jim
Jim,
Sent you a PM

If anyone that builds some of these arrows would like to use wraps I have some that I had made up that I can donate. They have the words Sua Sponte written on them. Sua Sponte is the motto of the Army Rangers, it's latin for "Of Their Own Accord." As some of you may or may not know, Chris was in 2nd Ranger battalion many years ago.
This is what they look like. I probably have about a dozen of them.

Please let me know.
Man guys you are great!
O.K. Jimscol, You do the arrows please. chopx2, does points. wbyrd, very appropriate wraps. Zradix thanks for the bump.
Jimscol could you pm me your addy so I can get the shafts out.
I really appreciate the group effort fellas.
So, I'll count how many nocks I have and get back on that.
Is there anything else we are missing?
I have red nocks if you need em...
ishiwannabe, that would be great! I found 6 red and 6 white. We definately need some more.
As soon as I get Jimscol's addy I'll forward it to you guys so we can get them to him.
How should we proceed from here once the arrows are complete? I would love to here feedback from everyone.
Don't leave me out! I'll look tomorrow for the nocks & feathers & other stuff in my earlier e-mail to you.

I'm just working part-time so I can get on them pretty fast. I will post pictures as they progress. Jim
I will get the nocks I have out tomorrow or friday.
Looks like I only have eight of the wraps left. If you're wanting to do all two dozen the same I have absolutely no problem getting more. Just let me know.
I can do one doz with the wraps and another with a crown dip, whatever you guys think is best. Wade, if you can get enough of the wraps to a doz that would be great. Jim
The guy I get my wraps from is doing a buy one dozen get one dozen free special right now so I went ahead and ordered four dozen. I'll send you whatever you need.
straitera, wouldn't think of leaving you out bud! Thanks to all you gentleman. Now, I gotta get to work, check back in tonight.

jimscol - pm sent
straitera I like that. Would anyone have any problems with red, white, blue for the fletch colors? I now see that an auction forum topic has been started for Chris. I havent checked it yet as I just got home. I would like to get this moved there and need input on how you guys and gals think we should proceed from there. Im open to the proceeds either going straight to Larry and his family or donanting it to St. Judes in memory of Chris. As always I would love to hear what you all think.
I would like to thank all of you for the responces and keeping this going. Brad and family
I sent FerretWYO a PM asking he move this thread to the auction thread for Chris.
I've got one dozen POC 23/64" 60/65 lb shafts to add if Jim or someone else would want to do another dozen. I can send them out Saturday.
(My arrow building art isn't up to par with the arrows I see on this website. I'm proud of them but someone with more skill will definitely command a higher bid.)
Since mine are a different size maybe can offer up a second separate auction...or save a dozen for St Judes auction.
Here's an idea too...indiviudal arrow auction with each winner sending the arrow to the family with a picture and story of their hunt?
Just an idea. I know the family isn't ready for that but come next season when the arrows are used they may be. Would give the kids something to cherish throughout their lives.
Let me know about the shafts...
I know as I have been hanging around for a while, Chris was always a big supporter of St. Judes. What about a dozen for his family and a dozen in His honor for the St. Judes Auction.
Respectfully I am closing this thread.
Onions, chopx2, wbyrd, ishiwannabe, straitera, fnshtr, please send what you would like to donate to Jim. He will build the arrows. Jim I will be calling you.
pronghorn23 and Tyler2045, please follow up with those ideas. I think that it would be best for them to have their own thread.
Thanks Brad.

I made up one arrow for you guys to look at and let me know if this is what you had in mind. I tried not to let any one color dominate. Jim

Don't know who said it; but I would say that it applies to the Surtees Family; quite well!
I applaud the efforts of each and every person who has or will do a kindness; for such a Beloved Family.
Justin, may your dad's spirit live in all of us through you. God Bless, and you will forever be in my prayers.
