Tell me what you can. What do you think about these knives? Thanks
I think I own 3...or is it 4...dandys all of them no matter how many....and I still want another one.
You cant go wrong with a Doug Campbell knife.
Doug's knives are proven performers and they look great. He put some before a jury of ABS Master Bladesmiths and was awarded his Journeyman Bladesmith stamp which is a big deal. Plus it dont hurt he's a pretty nice ol boy.
Worth every dime!
You better look out cause if I find one first Ill be on it. Hes a good fella for sure.Im looking for one of his smaller skinners but theyre all nice.
Have two of my own. Bought one for my dad, one for my son, have handed out several for TBOF awards... guess that means I like 'em!
Doug is a great guy as well. I like doing business with great guys.
I will have me one or two maybe three someday :bigsmyl:
You can't go wrong with one of Doug's knives.
Tracy
Held one once. Completely impressed. Then I had to give it back...
If you see one for sale you better buy it, because it won't last long. They are fine blades made by a fine man.
I have 5 of them. Even one I custom designed and Doug built for me. He's gifted. Not a good looking man by any means, but he's gifted.

Now that right there is funny! I don't care who you are
I have several and nothing but great stuff to say about them. Doug's one of Trad Gang's finest.
Good guy to deal with.
I have loved Doug Campbell's fine knives since first I layed eyes on one. Below I have included a pic of one of my most favorite possessions (and I have been blessed with many - especially those made for, or gifted to, me). This is a knife That my "Canadian Brother", "Harl", of Ontario ordered from Doug Campbell, purposefully to present to me for what he says I " .. do for the Kids". Some members have seen it in years past but the why, the wherefor, and the whence it came - make it extra special to me, as you can imagine, so here it is again - backed with holiday cheer.
Doug Campbell Damascus Steel Neck Knife, w/ brass at both ends of antler handle. What a little quality beauty!:

AND Doug is notably one of tradgang's most prized and favorite members - in spite of Biggies (discerning) opinion of his looks - LOL
I'll have to agree with Biggie on this one
Biggie's just jealous cause Doug is SKINNY! (cept for his Moose-stash!)
I'm jealous of alot of people on here! I have no skills at all!
Thank goodness I can make money, so I can BUY stuff from you guys 8-)
i have one on order. hoping it'll be here before the end of the month to take on a hog hunt.
Thanks a bunch everybody, I really appreciate the kind words and yea Biggster and Barney, I love you guys too... ;)
Shoot me an email Kerry and I'll try and answer any questions you have.
Now wait a minute, Biggie, there were girls crawling all over Doug in that cowboy hat of his at the Blade Show....you should have seen it...actually kind of scary.
I guess they teach cowboys how to handle stuff like that out there in the West! They kept sayin' something about him bein' on ' the cuttin' edge' or some such!!!
You cannot go wrong with a Doug blade...I own two myself!!!! and I make knives!!!
There's now a Doug Knife being auctioned for the Chris Surtees family on the PowWow.
gifted trumps good looking....
I have one of Doug's knives. You won't find better. A wonderful man to deal with I couldn't say enough good about him.
I'VE OWNED ONE FOR ABOUT A YEAR; CARRY IT OFTEN AND USE IT HARD. SHARPENS WELL, STAYS SHARP AND FITS MY HAND. I LOVE THAT KNIFE AND PLAN TO PASS IT DOWN TO MY BOY SOMEDAY.
His ears do stick out a bit from his head, and he oughta know how to handle girls, he's been surrounded by em his whole life!
I guess he's a pretty good egg, anyway. I feel lucky to call him "friend", and lucky to have shared more than a couple hunts with him. I have several of his knives too, and have marveled at his artistry in making them.

I bought this knife second hand. Anyone know if this is one of Doug's creations? There are two bear paw prints up near the bolster.
David,
On both of my knives's made by Doug, the insignia, a grizzly print has double circles around it. In addition, there is only one print, so I do no think it is one of Doug's.
Thanks Walt.

Say what? Doug's also building bows now!?!?! Where is the sign up list??? :readit: :goldtooth:
Here's mine with a decent shot of Doug's mark. (http://sticknstring.webs.com/photos/2010-Pictures/dcknife.jpg)
Doug made a damascus w/ bighorn sheep handle for me similar to the one he donated to St. Judes a few years back. My best friend had just killed his first bighorn and I knew he had to have one. I owed him more than money could buy for his friendship and Doug's knife was the only gift worthy of my feelings. That knife has since been in two Dall and two Stone sheep. The only thing I enjoyed as much as presenting that knife was dealing with Doug.
In my opinion..Doug does not charge enough for his knives. I had him make 3 knives for skinning deer with warthog tusks for handles, from pigs I have killed in Africa. Kept one for myself and gave the other 2 to the guys in my wedding. I use mine all the time. Not just for skinning deer. Pretty much anytime I am in the outdoors...I have it on me. Great stuff.
Dang it Jon......SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!
Yea Jon, I'm getting ready to order one after x-mas. Now you went and did it. :banghead: lol You better just give me yours instead.
I'm hoping to put it in a pig in maybe Feb. If I can hit the suckers this time.
Jon, next time you get married can I be your best man????
I have 6 of Doug's knives for me and the wife and I got 3 more from him to give to my best man and 2 grooms men when I got married! Everyone of them has had blood on it and they work as good as they look!
I have seen a couple of them they are no doubt some of the best peices of art work I have ever seen. One day I will have one.
TJ..you sure can! But I gotta warn ya..the chances of me ever pulling the wool over a girls eyes like that again are pretty damn slim!
I have one and gave one away to a highly valued friend on his 50th. The fact that you see so many here as gifts says more than I can. And yes, that Doug is the kind of guy he is adds to the value of the blade.
i finally have a jen-u-wine doug campbell knife on order - a li'l caper. hope to use it in the spring on a nice hog.
Rob,
2nd from the top...Bighorn horn handle

yep - sweet blade!
does Doug have a web site ?
ChuckC
I have had a matched pair of small and regular sized capers (similar to the one Steve O has pictured above) on order for several months, and I am really looking forward to getting them when Doug finishes the orders above me on his list. I have seen and held some of his knives before, but have never owned one. Doug is an amazing craftsman besides being a heck of a good guy.
