Title: Flu flu building conundrum
Post by: reddogge on December 13, 2010, 09:07:00 AM
I had 6 old Microflight flu flus from 40+ years ago with spiral fletch that was disintegrating so I decided to strip, cap, crest and refletch in 4 fletch.  Problem is these old shafts had been dipped gray and were probably seconds.  When I capped with acrylic it bubbled so I figured it was laquer gray paint on the shafts.  I sprayed the caps with laquer and it is working fine.

Now I'm cresting and no problems.  My question is should I coat the cap with wipe on poly and fletch with Duco or just fletch with Fletchtite over the laquer crest?

I'd glue to the lacquer, but probably with Duco or Fletchtite Platinum.  Both glues are a lacquer type product, but regular Fletchtite is a unique formulation and generally only works with Bohning's vinyl lacquers.  Bohning is a good line of products, but don't play well with others outside the family.
