i have a 28" draw ,i hunt mainly from the ground ,im looking for a short recurve that doesnt stack or have finger pinch .been looking at a few ..
1)cascade
2)black mountain
3)shrew ..nice but dont think i can wait that long
what are you guys that have a 28"-29" draw are shooting a 52-56" recurve
Try Dan Toelke at montana bows.
I have a 29"draw and a 52" recurve of his that I use for blind and thick woods bird hunting
A Super Shrew Li'l Favorite would be my choice.
Chuck at Two Tracks makes a 50" Ambush bow. I have one and it's an awesome little bow. I draw 26", but I know guys are drawing them at, and over 28" with no problem. She is smooth, quiet, and really packs a punch.

Check out Treadway bows.
If your draw is 28", not 29", try a Rodney Wright Stalker. It's 46" long and is fine out to 28". Then it hits a wall :banghead: . No stackin'.
I've got one 62# @ 28". My draw is 28" with no problem. I've had this bow for about 5 years now. Don't plan on ever gettin' rid of it. Fun bow to shoot. Good luck. :archer2:
check out whisperstik bows.jd makes a real nice 56" mojo.i draw a little over 28" and is smooth drawing and shooting bow.he makes awesome bows with wood u wont believe....chris

Dave Beeler's hybrid bows. 56"
I've got a 56 inch Widow PSR that's just a joy to shoot; nice and smooth to my 28 1/2 inch draw.
St joes River bows makes a sweet shooting 56" recurve. Very sweet shooting bows.
here is a pic of my anneewakee addiction recurve (http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/tt101/broketooth/scoutingthecroatan002.jpg) 56" amo 52#@28 . john dill is a sponsor here . a great guy to do business with. give him a call he can answer any questions you might have. good luck in your quest. oh befor i forget did i mention this bow pulls as smoothas butter. doesnt even feel like 52# and flings a carbon arrow with authority.
Can't recommend one without trying first but in a year or so I'll be looking for a Sheepeater at a bargain.Let us know what you find and how you like it.I've been in a bind in my tree stand on a few hunts where a short bow may have helped.

I am glad to see this!! I have a used Beeler heading my way!!!
My Black Mountain Sheepeater is my favorite!
I draw a true 29" and with this 50" bow there is no stacking or finger pinch. Definetly worth checking out.
Keeping the Faith!
Magnus
Check out RER bows (a sponser here). He makes static recurves which work well with short bows.
If you can't afford a custom bow, check out some of the old Bear Grizzly or Kodiak magnums. Short, quick, quiet, and my Grizzly is about 56" when strung and I'm about a 27" draw. It's made for a 28" draw and I can pull it back at least that far with no problems, but I'm just more comfortable somewhere between 26" and 27". I shoot 2 under so I probably don't notice any finger pinch like some who shoot 1 over 2 under would.
I believe the Kodiak magnum is even shorter tip to tip and was considered a "Bush Bow" by some of the older generations. I wish I had one.
Timberhawk makes a great short bow and only costs about $550 new.
Dave Beeler makes a short recurve and not as costly as some others. I'm not a recurve shooter so I can't say how well it shoots, but owning one of Dave's longbows makes me think that his recurve will shoot just as good.
Jack Kempf kwyk styks, short as 52"...Smoooth!

Yes, it IS Dave Beeler! :knothead:

I am such a knuckle head! I work with a guy named Bob Beeler and I always seem to get the two names confused! Thanks for the correction. I will edit my original post.
After shooting my wife's NAT from Lost Creek I would have to say it is the best short recurve I have have ever shot, even though it is not a recurve. Although if one is looking more for the shape of the limb it does not qualify for what you are looking for. As for handling and overall performance and accuracy, it beats my 52" 52 lb.Pearson, which I draw to 27".
Bear Kodiak Magnum
In my opinion Cascade is by far the best short recurve there is!
I have a Shrew Lil' Favorite I bought here on TradGang and love it! You'll find Shrews on sale here every now and again. You can avoid the wait by networking on here, if that is discouraging you. Lots of good suggestions above as well!
Good Luck!
Kris

Very sweet indeed!!!! ;)
I have a 52 inch Cascade Golden Hawk and love it. All of my friends, up to 30+ inch draw length, love it and are in the process of saving up to buy one. They said they experienced no finger pinch or stacking. I have a short draw length so it is much less of an issue for me.
I would agree also with the Cascade 52" it is the best short bow I have shot. And the wait is usually short. A second would be to get a KT44 if you really want a short bow.
Danny, everytime I see that Two Tracks I like it more,Great looking Bow!
Another vote got the Lost Creek bows. I have two. Great short bows that shoot like a dream. Call Chad and at least talk to him.
Annewakee Addiction recurve from John Dill. You can also get a great bowquiver made by John that realy gives you a nice hunting setup. These bows pull smooth and give you great performance.
Contact Lee at protegelongbows.com.He has a Jeffery Mitymag 52" 53LB@28 that belonged to my son. This is a great shooting short bow.I have shot it & my draw is 28".
I suggest you consider Dan Toelke's 52" recurve. I have shot a couple of them. I have a 29" draw and can tell you there is nothing not to like about these little bows. There is absolutely no stacking, no unpleasant finger pinch, they are VERY quick and with B50, like all Dan's bows they are QUIET! There are 2 or 3 on his website www.montanabows.com, (http://www.montanabows.com,) first click "current inventory" then "traditional recurves" to see them.
