Title: Brace Height ????????????
Post by: Wayde Burke on December 12, 2010, 06:08:00 PM
I acquired a bow second hand and did not receive an owner's manuel. Can anyone help me out with the brace height for this bow? It is an Earl Hoyt Sky bow model is Sky Hawk T/D. Also, any other information would be appreciated. Thanks !

If I am remembering correctly Belcher Bows bought Sky ( I think ) . You might try calling Jim to find out.   Jim Pyles

Brace height is only a suggested starting point in the tuning proccess. It will vary from bow to bow, arrow setup to arrow setup, person to person. As a general rule of thumb around 7-8 inches works to start. It may be a little high for some D-longbows and a little low for some TD recurves but its a place to start. You adjust up and down to find the sweetspot for your bow/arrow set-up......

When all else fails start at 1/8th of the AMO length for a brace height and work up and down 1/2" to see what works best.

I think Hvyhitter is right,7to8inches is a good place to start. When I tune one up,I work the brace ht and nock point at the same time.If I tweak one I generally tweak the other. But thats just me!
