Real turkey feather fletchings are great. They seem more quiet to me. This shape of chop is a little different for me too. I like the flight of these and the looks. They are 4.5" instead of my normal 4".

Where you get them?
very nice :)
These fletchings were made by Onestringer on this site.
Nice looking fletchings,great job Onestringer.
Very nice work Snag!
Are those glued on Surewood shafts?
Shoot straight, Shinken
Snag you do such great work!
There will be a dozen shafts on the way to you to fletch on Monday.
Woderful artistry!
Perhaps you may consider calling this series the Monet.
Nice!
Those are beautys for sure!
Snag your work on arrows are more like works of art.
Thank you for sharing with us.
God bless,Mudd
PS: I'm loving the ones I got from you.(Thank you!)
Beautiful. I saved a bunch of turkey wing feathers and have been planning on making some also. I guess I will have a good winter project with them.
Good work they are beauties
Love those natural turkey feathers. They hold up better than the commercial ones you get today.
David, do you need my address?
Sweet! I usually use a natural as a cock feather. When they get wet the natural repels water better than the commercial ones.
I love natural turkey feathers!............but I cant see them in flight anymore......for me I gotta see them. Those are sharp arrows, love the cream colored crown
Great looking arrows, I like that color combo.
Those are cool....
What is the color of the cap dip? And is that paint, I assume?
I love em too David, I grind and chop my own. It's not as difficult as most guys think it is and I enjoy doing it.
Great job on those arrows!
That's a real nice cresting job, too fancy for me to be shooting. They would end up in a brush pile somewhere anyway if I was shooting them. :D
My arrows are simple, but effective and you will see that I'm also a fan of the 4.750" natural turkey feathers. Here's my typical arrows and I pretty much do them all the same way. Easy to see in flight, quiet, and accurate.
I found out real quick that I just didn't have the time for all the cresting and such.
Although yours are very nice and there are some fellas on here that are true artists with their arrow building.
Once you switch to real natural turkey wing feathers there ain't no going back.
Sure......store bought commercial feathers will do the job, but it's just not the same anymore.
Just don't use the primaries off of a young bird or they will scream all the way to your target.
From left to right....2 Blackhawk Vapor Carbons, 1 Sitka Grizzly Stick, and far right 1 Woodie.
And of Course......Those are One Stringer's Arrow Wraps! The best and most reasonably priced that I have found anywhere.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I just love making wood arrows. If I can get unprocessed turkey feathers I'll go with them. They are quieter, hold up better like Ric said, they are a little water repellent like Owlgrowler said, and the look great...how can you improve on what God created?!
The paint is Rustoleum's almond for the crown. I like it because it is a little softer and more natural looking to go with the natural feathers. I did put the white nocks on these for a bit more of a visual as the arrow travels to the intended target.
I usually make my arrows out of Surewood Shafts. But I found some old ACME POC shafts that were wanting to turn from a cocoon into a butterfly. They are 11/32" end tapered to 5/16". They are 78#-82# spine and weigh with 145gr. tips a total of 610grs. There are pretty heavy shafts from cedar. But you have to take into consideration that they are ACME's and old when POC was in it's prime.
Beautiful! I like to use yellow or chartreuse nocks on mine, so I can find them after the shot. Like SEMO, I make them simple, but I always use red in the crest to attract blood for deer hunting. For turkeys, I avoid the bright colors.

snag once again some beautiful arrows my friend!
Great looking traditional arrow. Nice job!
Those are really sharp, Snag. "Classy" fits, I think. Congrats on the Acme's too. There is a reason why POC was the "go to" wood for so long (fir is still my favorite, tho). Nothing looks or works as good as natural bar fletch. Onestringer must have a good cutter, those look really nice. Thanks for sharing; I may have to try that almond.
Nice arrows Snag!
Very nice Snag.
Snag you are a true artist. Beautiful work.
snag, super nice as always bud ! Love looking at all the fine arrowsmiths work on the gang. I am charcoal staining some 65-70 Surewoods you talked me into now. Got about 2" snow and a 25mph wind today so no treeclimbing for me. Fireplace sure feels good. I am going to try and build my first set of spliced fletch, " yellowjackets". Have not decided if I am brave enough to try a true splice or cheat and butt cut them ? I know you used to butt cut them but started peeling quills last year didn't you ?
There some OUTSTANDING arrows
Perfect, snag! They look like my fletches, I settled on 4.5" shields some years ago. The real turkey feathers are so much better than the watered-down domestics! They have bred the strength out of the birds. But there is something to be said for seeing the fletch in flight, so I keep buying commercial feathers.

Stringstretcher ground a bunch of natural barreds for me, and they came out perfect. I got busted by a bunch of turkeys that snuck up behind me when I was carrying the above arrows this season.
If I had been carrying natural feathers like yours, perhaps they would have walked up for a chat, eh?
Killdeer
I find them vry nice and they have a trad and primitive looks.Does real turkey feather really quieter?(never tried them)
I like your fletching work it's great. I have a few wings to work with this winter, thanks for the insperation.
David those look great and are perfect spine for me too :) Great job as usual, and I really like the color combo. I want to try the "natural" white feathers this year.
How tall is the back high point on the feather?
Love the looks and would like to try and burn some like them.
Is a template available by chance?
Killie, do you recognize those nocks? Love those Mercury nocks! Thanks for showing me the way to a better nock.
No template Deathmaster...never thought I'd be typing that name! haha They are pretty much a standard height. It's the shape that I like.
Killdeer, you just wait until I get your "PINK" ones done
:scared:
Awesome ...
Very nice, I like the natural look much better than some out there that I have seen.
Those look Great! KY :archer:
Tim- Get yourself a feather chopper from 3Rivers. They are very reasonably priced and you can get any length or style you want.
Some guys like to burn them, but die cutting works extremely well for me.
Snag those are some great looking fletches. Good job onestringer
Great looking Snag. More water resistant also.
That's some good looking fletching. It is my favorite shape. I put the corner of the cock feather in the corner of my mouth as an anchor point.
David, that is some of the nicest cresting I've seen. I hope you will be making some arrows for the auction at the Portland PBS. I'm going to start squirreling some coin away, even if it is just to buy your 3 winning arrows from the contest...
Very nice work on those naturals. Looks like a 3 Rivers "Swift" cut on em. I was considering that chopper, and after seeing them now on yours, I am convinced that is a great cut to use. Thanks for sharing. Get em bloodied up already.
Snag you didn't waste anytime fletching up some arrows.
Scott
Great looking arrows and feathers. Nice work on both parties.
Thanks guys.
I told you Scott I had some shafts just waiting for your feathers! haha
I hope all arrow builders get ready for the PBS in Portland! Let's make our best!
I love making arrows if you can't tell...haha I could make them all day. Well with some bowbuilding once in awhile.
I love the looks and quality of natural feathers...although I have never had enough of them to make even 1 dozen arrows.
Snag people like me just love people like you!
("I love making arrows if you can't tell...haha I could make them all day. Well with some bowbuilding once in awhile.")
I hate making arrows!! Back when I made Osage self bows I always said I'd rather build 10 bows than two arrows...lol
I have, can and would make them if I was the last person on earth but until then I'll leave it to those who love it.
Your love for building them shows in your work. I think that my disdain for making them showed itself in my finished product too...lol
Keep up the good work!!
God bless,Mudd
TTT
I can't stop looking at these arrows
Very kind words. Thanks to all on this site that have shared with me how to do things like making arrows.
Yes Mudd, we all have our own gifts don't we. Love sharing what the Lord hasn't given me with others as others have done for me.
I must admit something here...I'm a perfectionist.
Man,gorgeous job. That is the most classic and pure job that I have seen barr none!Kudos!!
Hi there Chanumpa. Bend, huh? Do you know Dave Doran?
beautifull arrows, love seeing pictures of arrows made by members on here.Im trying to learn the process myself right now.the pictures just give me a goal to work towards.great job,Ross
nice clean work snag.thet are sharp
Great job...very nice!
Snag,Those have to be the nicest arrows I've ever seen, reminisant of the past, subtle yet the attention to detail just fantastic!
Nice looking arrows.
Thank you for all the kind remarks. I wanted to show off the beauty of the natural feathers in a way that was decorative, but not too much.
