Title: Traditional archers in North Denver?
Post by: Zane on December 10, 2010, 08:44:00 PM
Any trad archers up around Thornton/Brighton/Westminster area?

Am new to the area and hoping to find a traditional league for the winter months.

Thanks!

I'm not really from N. Denver, but I drive down to SW Loveland from Estes Park to shoot with the Big Thompson Bowhunters.  The BTB Big Game Feast kicks off the year on Jan 8 and then the next Sat. is the first 3-D shoot.  This is not specifically a traditional club but usually there are lots of trad shooters (sometimes 50% or so).  The shoots are once a month Jan-Apr. and then they start once a week shoots until hunting season.  The shoots are very informal, fun, and not real competitive.  Let me know if you want more details about the big game feast or the directions to the range.

What Smallwood said.  Also, the CTAS banquet is in February in SW Denver, Don Thomas is the guest speaker this year.

Check in with Tom at Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear at 52nd and Sheridan. It's a trad only shop with some of the best folks you are likely to run into. They can steer you in the right direction.

You'll be overwhelmed by their selection of trad bows, too.

Tell 'em Gene said hi.

I am about 30 miles north of Denver.  Just got back from the Trad shoot in Cheyenne, it was really a nice shoot and a lot of nice bows to look at.
I also belong to the River Bottom archers at Ft. Morgan ( east of Greeley).  The club is nearly all trad shooters.  We have about 5 3D shoots starting in Feb. and have one each month until June.  The one in May is a 2 day shoot.  There is dry camping on the grounds.  It is always a lot of fun.  The range is set up along the South Platte River in the trees.
If you are interested, drop me a line.  Several of us will be leaving in a couple weeks to hunt Javelina in Texas.  We go every year and it is a blast.
