Well it finaly came.I bought a used Hellmann longbow on another archery website and it came today along with some other stuff. new string , silencers, no glove rubber tab like thing that go's on the string, string keeper, stringer, and a selway 6 arrow quiver. The bow is 64" #54 @ 28. It took me a while to get the string twisted just right but after 1 hour of shooting i was grouping ok at 15 yds.

The obsession begins! :jumper:

Sounds good, but I'd lose the no-glove in short order. It adds too much weight to the string and is so fat it rolls the string into your face. Get a good tab or glove and you are ready to rock. I like the Screaming Eagle tab. It's just plain cordovan, but it works great and only gets better with time.

Welcome and Congrats! I'm not sure what your previous experience is, but if you draw a full 28", or more, be careful not to overbow yourself. 54# can be heavy to start with. I overbowed myself starting out and it leads to bad form and major frustrations.

Sweet! You need to fling some arrows through that bad boy and get to know it.

Righton Man,welcome aboard.Youll have more funand gratification with traditional archery.Congrats and welcome.

Welcome friend.
Enjoy the journey.
Be mindful of your form from the beginning.
Don't shoot too much when tired and you won't get tired of shooting.
Learn to use the search function or IMO the better Google advanced search within tradgang.com
Can't find the answer..just ask.
There is more accumulated knowledge ( and opinions) here than you can shake a bent stick at.
X2? the tab or glove recommendation. ( tab for me )
Have any baby pics?
just realized I'm 1 away from 1000...

From one trad newbe to another, welcome and congratulations!
Prepare to be consumed by your choice. Just accept it as a natural progression and don't fight the overwhelming urge to delve into the traditions and knowledge found on this site.
Good luck!

There is something terribly, horribly, catastrophically wrong with this thread. Something seems to be ... missing. What could it be?
