Anybody have any great tips or ideas on protecting sharp broadhead edges during travel? I've made little sheaths for them out of thin foam and that worked well but is bulky. I'm interested in coating the edges in a plasticky material, anyone done this?
Thanks, Dan
I stick mine in the plastic style foam that printers and PCs are shipped with. I keep it in the base of my quiver, also.
Duct tape over the edges.
Get with KME. They use a plastic/ruber type coating. I am not sure what is is though.
Abowyer Brown Bears arrive shaving sharp with a plasticy wax protecting the edges.
You might look at a product called Liquid Electrical Tape. It comes in a can with a screw top with a brush attached to the top. It is a rubbery coating that dries quickly and is intended for insulating electrical surfaces. Look in a hardware or marine supply store.
I have used it for a protective coating on edged woodworking tools, and it peels off.
Another product that smells and handles just like it is Whip End, sold in marine supply stores for finishing off the cut end of a rope.
Not sure about carrying the can with you for the return trip if you are flying, though...probably verboten due to the volatile solvent.
Thanks guys! good ideas, I'll check 'em out.
3 Rivers has this stuff: Protect A Edge (http://www.3riversarchery.com/Broadheads+Points+Point+Glue+%26+Adhesives++Protect+A+Edge+Broadhead+Protectant_c57_s235_p0_i8086_product.html)

3Rivers also sells leather broadhead sheaths.
Better than plastic / rubber / ETC .IMO. because its more easily reused.
