...2 blade heads...is there any major difference other than the price? Does one fly better than another? I ask because for just a couple dollars more you get double the amount of unvented. Thanks!
The unvented won't hiss like the vented blades do. I have yet to find a vented blade BH that doesn't hiss at least a little bit. Solid blades never have in my experience. Although, I have and do shoot vented blade bh's because they are the style I like, or they fly really good, and just ignore what little bit of noise they might create. Don't know if that info helps you or not?
I shoot the solid. I had vented once but I prefer the solid head. Some say vents can produce noise like a whistle sound and can cause drag in an animal. No experience with the drag. Both are great heads! Hence my handle. Check out Braveheart archery in the sponsors list. Great service and great price. Best I've found!

The vented are stated to be "harder" steel than the solid heads. At least I think I read that somewhere.
Thanks for the responses so far. I suppose my biggest concern would be that of flight as opposed to noise or strength. Do you fellas think the flight is much different between the two?
SuperK... not true bud. Both styles are made from the same steel and often heat treated at the same time.
As long as they are mounted straight, they will both fly straight. In theory, the vented should plane less, but vented heads plane just fine when mounted off; I know.

Thanks! I understand what you mean about mounting them straight. Assuming that they're mounted equally straight, do you think there's a big enough flight difference between the two to justify getting half as many vented as unvented for a similar price?
I'd much rather have the solid heads anyway. Go get 'em.
I'd get the solids.
Because..well..they're solid.
And they'll work.
And they're less expensive.
Another small point, I believe that I read Ashby found that non-vented heads had better penetration in his tests.
Personally, I like the quietness of a non-vented head.
I agree about the noise, prefer solid as I like to shoot heavier heads
its been already mentioned but I avoid all vented heads because I figure when they cut through ribs the edge of the ribs catch on those vent holes "or could" and the vents also can catch on the meat and flesh and prevent a pass-thru "or could" so I go for solid blades,,, not sure about the hissing cause I don't shoot them.
Great! I think that settles it for me. Thanks very much for all of the help guys
i like the solid two mag II 125 grain they fly good and are super strong heads .i will be trying them on hogs at rays come the end of feb .
