Title: Trad Hunting Partner: Pic thread
Post by: dragonheart on December 02, 2010, 08:33:00 PM
There are those individuals that you spend that cherished time each fall in the outdoors with.

There is a trust and bond there through the outdoor experience, that is quite unique.  Post up photos of your hunting buds.

Tim and myself

We can depend on each other in the outdoors and in our lives

Your lucky to have someone to share your hunts with. Cherish every hunt as if it's your last.

My husband, Mockingbird;

One of my best friends, Duffy;
Last New Year's Day, Duffy, Needlenose, Mockingbird and I were at our annual celebration on the banks of Bull Run. It was night, we had started a campfire against the frigid air, and my idiot dog went after a beaver and into the river. She is a dog that studiously avoids immersion.

The 8 or 10 foot bank was steep, and she couldn't get out. She was hanging on a vine under the overhanging trunk of a poplar, and we couldn't reach her. I was not going to lose her, so I slid down as far as I could under that tree and tried for her collar. With one arm grabbing the tree, and the other one stretched out, she was just out of reach. I was going to have to go get her, and started to step out over the water, praying that the inky stream had some sort of ledge beneath the surface. Not one to take such luck for granted, I said to those above, "I'm going in."

As I stepped toward a soaking, I felt Duffy's hand latched onto my waistband. The extra support allowed me to reach and grab the collar, and drag Spirit around the tree and up the bank, where somehow she was taken the rest of the way. If I had gone in, Duffy would likely have gone in too, and I will never forget that.

When I come back, if I can't be a raven, I wanna be ApplePie, sorta.

I am blessed.

I'm blessed to have my wife as my best friend and shootin pard. Today is our anniversary and we've been married 16 years.
This is the only picture I have loaded of her on photobucket so I'll go with it.

I have several really close bowhunting buddies that I have been all over the country with.  One of them would walk through the fires of hell for me without being asked...none shoot trade bows.

Not complaining.  Love shooting my trade bows.  It is just not a selection criteria me on who I spend time with.

Deadsmple and I. I got Vaughn interested in bow hunting and the monster was created. He became a great hunting partner in no time flat. I set him up to get his first deer and I'll never forget it running past me with the arrow waving like a flag. every day hunting with Vaughn is an epic of its own.

Me and my best hunting bud Tony Turner, aka Taiga Recurve.  We have made an annual trip to the badlands of ND for mulies and antelope.  Here is Tony's antelope from our 2009 trip.

We have climbed some pretty steep hills together and solved many of the worlds problems around the campfire, and we share almost identical views on most of lifes important issues, now that I think of it, it's kinda scary.

Tony is an expert camper and one heck of camp chef.

Tony looking out over the Little Missouri.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/autumnarcher/009-1.jpg) My oldest son Alex. He loves to hunt maybe even more than his Ol' man does. Maybe.

(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/autumnarcher/SpringStumpshooting.jpg)  Both my boys love the outdoors, although my youngest son soesnt really have the interest in hunting as much as just shooting and exploring.

My wife Amy and I sepnd a lot of time hunting together. Shes fairly new to it all, but she can surely hold her own afield. Still working on that first bow kill, but shes put several deer in the freezer with her muzzleloader.

Pretty cool thread.

I've shared camp with a ton of folks over the years but here are a few that have been true friends through thick and thin. I'm very lucky to call them my friends.

My daughter Allison and I spend a lot of time in the woods together.

Roger and I have been hunting all over North America together and we're not done yet.

Alan is a good friend and hunting buddy although our schedules don't allow us to hunt together as much as we would like.

Johnny deserted us and moved to Montana where he's living the dream. I hope to keep visiting him every year.

Chris and I hunt together just about every week year round. He has yet to go all trad but I'm working on it.

My best guy hunting partner, Todd. He's the only friend I have ever shared a hunting spot with that hasn't used it without my knowledge and he doesn't bring others to my honey holes. I gave up my best tree stand to him so he could shoot his first whitetail with a trad bow.
