#1 -Blatant soliciting for non-sponsors. Some of this is by folks that register and immediately spam the site. This has been happening a lot recently, and I am proud to see the memberships responses to these spam posts prior to us pulling them. Someone even recently posts a digital ad straight off the vendor's web site. If anyone blatatly advertises you may lose your privilege to post.
I love it that the membership here will and defend the rules and protect those that support the site. THANK YOU!
Anytime you see blatant advertising like that, please hit the little alert whistle found on the bottom line of every post ...
...so the admins can react to it....we can't see everything all the time so feel free to be our eyes on that.
#2 - Non-Trad Bowkills PERIOD are not allowed on Trad Gang. That is a policy we set from day one, and this eliminates picking and choosing of who can and who can't and claims of favoritism.
So, if your boy killed a booner with a 300 mag, muzzle loader, compound, crossbow, slingshot or a rock and he's still in diapers, I'm sorry, you can't post it here. There are no exceptions....EXCEPT any hunt offered to youth via the St Judes Auction....all hunting and fishing donations get a free pass.
#3 - Pot Stirring 'Agenda' threads. These will not be tolerated. These are much easier for us to read than you might think...there are hints and clues always from someone trying to shove something down other's throats, and taking personal jabs. The funny part about most of these is the person with the agenda usually has no real experience with what they are pushing. That is more obvious than they realize also via clues in their posts and a little research. You also lose credibility and integrity when you are 'made'. When you push a product or method, and then you are found out you have never killed anything with said method or product....we'll, ya look dang silly. Especially when you start arguing with folks that have killed truck loads of animals.
Again, I appreciate the membership pointing these out and posting in opposition to the offenders. THANK YOU AGAIN!
#4 - Sales Alerts from non-sponsors. Postings of links to special sales from big box stores is not allowed...or even small box stores that are non-sponsors. Or, any notification of sales or deals just for the sake of posting them. If we were to allow this, we would have a discount/coupon/sales forum instead of a bowhunting forum. This would get out hand real quick.
Just something I feel I needed to address due to some frequent occurrences as of late.
Thank you and all the moderators!
We are all proud of Tradgang and all it stands for!
You guys make following easy because you lead wonderfully by example.
:campfire:
God bless,Mudd
Terry,
I think #3 is what makes this forum so much better (to me) than all the others.
I second what Mudd said! Thank you all for this site!

Great site and very reasonable rules. I would have to let the kid in dippers post a kill with a slingshot or rock. I think that is trad, but not trad archery so I can live with it rule. :D
Terry, you are simply clear and right.

I hear ya...and have to admit....I would most likely ignore it as long as I could :D :D :D
BTW...I forgot #4 and just added it.
I want to make it clear about #1 since I had someone email me that thought they were breaking the rule by posting about a bow that they got that was from a non-sponsor....here's the response I gave him.
"Roy...no worries.....that's not the problem we are having....there are plenty of post about non sponsors...from bows to arrows, to quivers etc.....what I am talking about is BLATANT infomercial type posts from folks that never participated on the site before."
Great site for the right reasons....Thanks Adm. and Mods. Im coming up on a year here and still havent had to turn my computer off and walk away mad!
Thanks, I am glad the site is kept in order.
Do give aways from sponsors/non sponsors who write an entire page of who they are count for a nono? Ahem steveOH
Love rule #2 nothing wrong with it but don't need to see it on a TRAD bowhunting site...love it
This site rules- thank you very much.

I like these. Especially when they come from someone who has not yet killed anything with a trad bow... :D
These rules regulate this being the most quality, respectful, and informative site on the net for trad hunting. I recently went on another site, without such rules and wow, I tell ya, did not stay long. Unbelievable to me the lack of class in this particular group of bowhunters conversation. Without the rules and boundaries, it just goes into a mayheim of rant.
I always try to think of this as a real campfire discussion, not a cyber one. Here is my own test. If I would not say that face to face with you sitting around the hunting campfire, then I do not need to post it on the internet.
A big thank you to Terry and all of the people that contribute to make this forum the most informative, mature, and classy enviroment for trad bowhunting discussion.

Jeff...that was the main reason I started this site!!!....I wanted a true representation of a hunt camp campfire.

Have you killed anything lately?
I cannot commend enough those who work hard to keep this site running by the rules. This is the ONLY hunting site that I know of that youth can browse without being exposed to peoples darks sides. Not that kids don't see it elsewhere, but thanks for the safe haven provided.
The hunting stories are addicting for young and old. No reason why things can't be kept clean and respectable.
Thanks again.
Thanks Terry!

Thanks for keeping this working! :notworthy:
I must admit i had once broken the rules and got a thread pulled, but that was not out of ignorance but just forgeting about it and getting carried away :banghead: . Sorry and thanks again! :clapper:
Thanks guys for running this right
Your the MAN Terry!
GLENN
Man I cant tell you how much I love this site and its whacky rules! You guys do a superb job of policing everyone who posts and the great thing about it is everyone needs that sometimes and you guys dole out the justice with an even hand. Good rules enforced with a fair hand. Lord knows how Ive managed to evade the hand of justice so far as I tend to get pretty passionate about some of my view points as many of us do I suspect.
You guys do a fatastic job and thats why this is one of the only sites that I visit every day.
:clapper: :clapper:
You fellers got you hands full and I appreciate what you do.RC
Hey Terry, been awhile..... Thanks
Keep up the good work and don't change a thing.

Your doing good.Thanks.

Thank you Terry!

I think we've all done it on accident, like posting a joke on the pow wow, or posting a pic of you and your kid fishing,(I did both  )I don't think most of us do it intentionally or out of disrespect. I don't think that's what the mods are most worried about anyway. I would think that htey are more worried about people trying to sell products for non sponsors(spamming) or people openly bashing one another. They know that we're all just simple humans. Some of us, like myself, a little more so than others at times.
Thanks again guys....it is a job to keep the site focused that's for sure.
Seems someone didn't like that I had my last compound kill pic(2 bucks and a doe) that was the last evening I ever hunted with a compound 20 years ago on my own PRIVATE web page....so he wanted his registration removed.
Unbelievable at how folks treat a free gift. Some even leave here with lifelong friends and memories that they would never had had if not for TradGang. It saddens me how folks just throw it all away...again, over nothing.
That is sad! Definetly his loss! Thank you again for this place it's the only site I go to.
Keeping the Faith!

I appreciate this site and it's moderators and members more than anyone can imagine. It's all about respect and helping each other out. I'm on here about 75% of my total web browsing. Love it!

That's what I do too. I think most of us do. That, along with the great job done by our moderators, is what makes this site so great. Thanks to all the moderators and members for keeping this a positive place for all to enjoy.

Nothing is perfect, but this forum comes pretty close.
Thanks for letting me be a part.
If in any way I have violated any of the rules I do apologise & will try to be better at it in the future.
Thank y-all for such a great place to chat & learn about Traditional archery.
Terry, First off Thanx for a great site.
There is some on here knows if I see something out of place or might not be good to have posted I let them know, You also know if I see somethings I let You know about them.
As many have already said this is a great site thay is why I have been a Contributor here Twice so far. I try and help because this site and members have helped Me..
I've had 1 or 2 posts pulled and received a
little reprimand email from the mods (actually the same mod twice). Have no I'll feelings toward him or the site because of it. Actually I know I was wrong but didn't realize when posting that I was getting to deep into family matters. Was a little hot under the collar and venting at the time. :readit:
And now I consider myself a member of a very select group of individuals. Because some of the finest bowhunters I know have had posts pulled from this site. (We're Special) :D
Terry Can You just make this a sticky up top..
Threads get looked at more than stickies.
I am at fault also for not refreshing my mind with the rules. It happens
QuoteOriginally posted by vermonster13:

Good point
Am just confused why some wolf threads are okay and some not. Favoritism of the moderator???
Hey Zbone...when you see a thread that you think doesn't belong or shows favoritism, why don't you click on the little icon that says "Report Post" under that persons post and ask the moderator that question? Sometimes they slip past them or maybe they were feeling benevolent that day. :) Regardless, they will (most of the time) send you an email as to why or why not they allowed that post.
Appearantly, one of mine was pulled and I'm not quite sure why?
Of all the Trad archery sites on the internet, Trad Gang is my favorite. Lots of posting traffic everyday. It's also got a nice homey atmosphere about it. I also like the way this site "looks".
QuoteOriginally posted by rbbhunt:

Please do not take it personal. When you have a site of your own that's this big, you will understand a WHOLE LOT more about why we have rules and actually carry them out. Sites can get out of hand, off course, and lose focus faster than you can imagine.
I'll give you a little example. Dean Torges posted a pic of some apple wood bacon he'd made from a hog he'd killed in SC. Within 6 hours of him posting that thread, there were NINE 'grill pics' on the PowWow...and by the time I got them all moved to the recipe forum there was already a 'spin off' thread a guy had started. It was titled 'YUMMMMM!!'....and he posted 'Wow with all these grill pics I got hungry, what are all you guys having for supper?"
Now that example is even more relevant when you take into consideration that was SIX years ago when we had a fourth of the folks that we have now.
Most folks really don't know how hard it is to keep a site like this on target....pun intended :D
rbbhunt...your thread fell under #4 of my original post...
QuoteOriginally posted by Zbone:

I don't have a clue what you are referring to....I'd have to have some examples.
General 'wolf' threads are pulled. If its pertains to hunting wolves, it doesn't get pulled.
Again, I'd have to have an example of what thread got pulled and what was allowed to stay. I've pulled my own posts before so as far as favoritism ........no.
Did you have a wolf thread pulled?...if so, how long ago?
Will do Terry!
As far as not Knowing why some threads get pulled and some don't, this is what I've coem to think:
The mods are humans and have different opinions of what is appropriaste and what isnt. If a non related thread stays up often, its overlooked or viewed as not threatening to cause severe problems. I can think of a black deer thread that wasnt hunting related, it was just a pic. A nice picture I may add
Now a picture of deer on a boat thread was stopped. I was a nice pic of deer and it wasnt bowhunting related.
Look at it this way, if a thread gets removed, there will be a justifiable reason and you would be able to find out why by reading the rules. If a thread doesnt get removed, well maybe it was overlooked or maybe there is a reason as to why it meets criteria.
You can also look at it this way; enjoy the site for what it is worth. I have made many frieds here and enjoy the time suck it provides during the cold and dark winter months.
A litle warmth and light given from a cyber campfire if you will.
Thanks Mods for all you do to keep this place friendly and informative. Although I dont understand why you do everything you do, I aprpeciate all the other stuff you do. Life's too short to worry about miniscule stuff. people should appreciate what hey have or like the example of the guy Terry mentioned earlier, move on at your own loss.
:notworthy:
If you have a problem think about what it's like to try and keep 30,000 people in check, and following guidelines and rules.I cant do that with my three kids without getting frustrated.Terry made this for us to come together and have a place of our own,so lets respect that and keep it what it is and follow the rules, they ain't that bad. :campfire:
Terry,
Just for my future reference, if I had left it at "a flytying supply store" and not mentioned any vendor, would that post had been Ok? I was just wanting to give an alternative source for cat whiskers that is available in different colors.
Thanks,
Before come to Tradgang I was a Mod on another site. I went to work and did My 8hrs, did My 2hr round trip to go to the shop, Got Home and did the things I had to do. By the time I started doing My Mod job there was things I missed and others missed. It is a hard job being a Mod at times, Hell it feels like a full time JOB.
This past St. Jude's Auction I was helping Terry out and I even missed some thing doing That. I guess what I'm trying to say is everyone can't catch everything all the time so Threads that shouldn't be on here do stay for some time, When other threads about the same thing/meaning get pulled.
Thanks Mistic.....yeah....I always try and tell them....
"You ever go fishing?.....Did ya catch ALL of them?"
rbbhunt....no, not really....that's still just a topic of a 'deal'.
No problem mentioning it *within* a post already started pertaining to silencing a bow.
Kinda hard to explain sometimes, but there are off topic topics that are not necessarily off topic posts. We do try and find a way to let a topic stay if all possible....but we do have to keep a close eye to keep it a Trad Bowhunting site.
I've always wondered what the site would look like after just one month of zero administration. :scared: :scared: :scared:
Terry,
The fact that you take the time to reply to these responses says what type of person you are, and what type of site you created and keep. That should be enough for anyone with a problem. Thanks Tim
Terry,
Sent ya an email.
Some of these points should be a "must" read for everyone. We tend to forget that this is a site that is provided (and belongs) to someone else. It doesn't cost most of us a penny, some give back with info, some just take.
when someone else lets me play with their big toy, I can at least play within the rules THEY set down. It ain't mine! I am graciously allowed to participate.
Thanks for letting me play
Good point Bob. I think some people take this site for granted and think of it there own not a service provided by someone else who asks nothing in return other than to follow the rules. I'd be lost without this site. Sad but true!
Keeping the Faith!
Magnus
I agree with both Magnus and Bob.
I would like to add that it is possible to support the site by being a contributor and sometimes it is with money as well as "what you know and share".
Not everyone can afford to give a lot but even as little as 10 bucks a year could be helpful.
Just look at the top left side, you'll see a "contribute to tradgang" tag, click on it and follow the instructions.
Thanks to all who contribute in any way.
I love my Tradgang family!!
God bless each and every one of you today!!
Roy L "Mudd" Williams
OK, thanks for the clarification
We really need help folks....#4 is really becoming a problem still....even after this thread. This forum can't turn into a sales alert/deal/coupon forum.
Thanks..... :campfire:
It's all cool on the wolf front Terry.
Thanks Zbone....
Terry, thanks for the great site.
Thanks to ALL who work to make this a True Trad Site!
I know what long hours and hard work is all about. I appreciate it very much!

You know how much I appreciate what this site offers to us as hunters and to state organizations/clubs. Good job, buddy!
I think Terry & the rest of the administration/moderators do a fine job. Probably my favorite site on the web. I thank them for the time they put in. I'll try to abide & no hard feeling if you pull one of mine.
This is basically the only hunting site I visit. Thanks to all those Mods who help keep it up, polite and on track :bigsmyl:
Thank you moderators!
Upholding the integrity of this family is this responsibility of all.
Here here to rule 3 for sure, makes this site above and beyond the others !! Keep up the good work !!!
I moderate elsewhere...hard and thankless job...so to all the mods and admin here:
THANK YOU!!
Its a tough job, no pay, no respect. Like being a judge at a turkey calling contest.
From what I seen in the short time I been here it is moderated very well. Great job.
