I recently aquired a Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve that was given to me. The bow is 52" and is 50# at 28". I have a draw length of 31.5". Can this bow be used safely at such a long draw length? Ive yet to shoot it because i havent made a string for it yet. Any advice would be much appreciated.
After reading several post on 29" drawers shooting this bow's 48" little brother without stack I would'nt be afraid to go for it.Report back on your findings.Certainly a good question!
I believe you'll find it will start to stack after 30" if not a little before. Hap
I have the same draw and shoot my 58" grizzly 3 under with no problem. Some people have told me that it is not recommended, but it's comfortable for me. Good luck.
Finger pinch will be substantial. Your draw length will severely overstress the limbs. That bow starts stacking severely soon after 28 inches. It's not a matter of if, but when the limbs will come apart. Better to sell/trade it for something longer. Why torture yourself and the bow.
I have a 52" Cascade that I draw to 30" and a kt44 that I draw to 30" also. I don't see any reason to not shoot it if it is comfortable to you. IF you shoot split finger you might experience some finger pinch but not 3 under.
With a 31.5" draw and the bow being 52", there is definitely going to be a case of finger pinch.
Yikes!
Thanks for all the replies, I am a little nervous about shooting this bow for an extended period of time. Think I will trade it.
