well what type of arrows do you use ? -- wood, aluminum, or carbon?--
Hmmm?? What should I choose? I use all 3. :dunno:
Hah! I did not know which to pick for FullMetal Jackets...the best of both worlds with carbon encased in aluminum :)
Both carbon and aluminum. I have a couple bows that just love an aluminum arrow.
Depends on the bow,but I shoot all three, wood, aluminum and carbon. But I would say more carbon arrows.
Only wood for me. I just can't force myself to shoot aluminum or carbon from a longbow.
Carbon, then wood and last choice...aluminum.
Straight ones.
I checked wood but it is cane , more of a grass than wood, woods close enough. Bob
I chose carbon, which is what i shoot most of the time. I do make my own sitka spruce arrows though and shoot them from time to time.
Carbon 1st, then wood, and a few aluminum.
wood only for me... and I only apply thin layers of linseed oil on 'em.
Aluminum this year but next year it might be wood again. :archer2:
I still shoot aluminum mostly and wood arrows on ocassion . Im in the minority :dunno:
Tryed them all went back to aluminum, be there to stay...unless they quit making them! Jason
I went full circle from hardware store arrows as a kid to aluminum in my late teens and early 20's then carbons back about 10 years ago, now all I shoot is woods that I craft myself. I have even got my sons started in making their own also.
Wooooood!!!!it's just natural!
aluminun and wood!
Actually, I shoot carbon and wood. I really like makin arrows from the taper stuff to the fancy up stuff.
I love woodies ... lol
But I also still use alloy ... have no curent interest in carbons .. maybe one day but til then , woodies and alloys
Carbon and wood.
Mostly carbon.
all this is my opinion but I still officially shoot all three but honestly the aluminums hardly get a 2nd look anymore,,, the carbons are hard to beat for getting the mass weight right and tuning and above all they are accurate and I find I can bare shaft my heritage 150's in about 5 different bows of different weights by just changing the point weight!
woods are beautiful! plain and simple its hard to beat a nice wood arrow but they shoot different for me all the time based on weather I just can't really trust them unless I take a few practice shots first but its hit or miss with woods though I'll always shoot them!
aluminums are noisy in the quiver, and look bad, they never held up for me and when thats all I had I found I was ordered a couple doz every season just to replace all the bent ones,, also too hard to build up a heavy grain weight.
carbon -- 4 4" feathers
I went back to aluminum this year. Maybe wood next year. I seem to be cursed with carbon.
I use all three and I shoot carbon the most but I do really enjoy everything about shooting wood arrows from my bows. I just find it hard to break out each new dozen and actually shoot them.
I got my last dozen from elite arrows and they are just what the name implies. Great shooting arrow and nice to look at as well.
Wood for most of my bows and a majority of the time (probably 70-75%), carbon and aluminum split the remainder.
I like wood and aluminum. I shoot some carbons but when the last one breaks I won't replace them, not the leap ahead of aluminums they are said to be.
I like the aluminum.did not care for carbons.
If aluminum arrows ever go the way of the dinosaurs, that's when I'll quit bowhunting and then make my recurve bows into permanent wallhangers. :(
bamboo
Carbon the most natural thing on earth.
I voted carbon But use wood and cane for my self bow . I like carbon put an aluminum sleev on the tip and you can hit rocks and they will not break, well not all the time . I hit lots of rocks chasing ground squirrels.
Carbon Express Heritage 250's, full length.
Carbon, for its ability to produce high FOC arrows.

Same here
Wood, anything else is a faux arrow. ;)
Jack
2016 aluminum
Aluminum 90% ....wood 10%. No reason for me to go to carbon.
Wood. POC and douglas fir.
Carbon seems to hold up best when tree hunting.Believe me I'm experienced!!
aluminums by default. i'd like to try carbons some time
D. All the above.
Mostly aluminum. Had a couple carbons break in two and now too afraid of having one go through my bow hand.
My favorite arrow after 4.5 decades of shooting is the Beman MFX Classic. I just "discovered" this year. I also have Easton Legacy Aluminums which I cut the swage of and install an uni-bushing so I can rotate nocks.
I don't shoot wood. I messed around with making wooden arrows a half-dozen years ago, sealing, cresting, etc. However, I never owned a wooden arrow I thought was straight enough. I realize this is because I am too ignorant when it comes to making and caring for wood arrows.
i use all three kinds of arrows alum carb wood
Carbon and Aluminim, depends on the bow, and the reason or season I guess.
right now the bow i'm huting with I had a ton of aluminum shafts for it and not many carbon so I fletched up the aluminum. My heavier bows (55+) I shoot Hammer heads. I can get the weight I need and the correct spine with a 200 grain head with the HH.
regardless I always try to shoot minimum 10 gpp.
xx75s for me love for them mass weight...
I took up traditional archery in 2005 and started with wood arrows. I will be going to aluminum this winter. I have a couple of XX78's 2016's and they fly more consistent. I will still use my cedars to stump shoot ect. till they are all broke.
Reinforced Carbons, then wood or grass, then ...
I don't know why, but Aluminum for me is just there to reinforce carbons..
I just have no feel for the stuff..
POC is all I own
All three but wood lately.
Easton Axix 400 with 100 grain inserts with phat heads 140 gr,
oak and pine from the lumber yard where i work, and poc shafts nothing like watching your own hand made arrow fly
Wood (cedar) and carbon.....KY
I shoot carbon from my Widow and wood from my '66 Kodiak.
golt tip trad
Only wood for me. Love my Surewoods!
Keeping the Faith!

A little surprised at the amount of cabon users.
I only have used wood, POC and now Dougles fur.
I'am just old and hard headed to try others.
XX75 & XX78 aluminum.
I shoot carbon i have relatively good luck with them so i guess why change.
Fir from plank boards and hexshafts. Did use carbon when I shot wheels. They went with the wheelbow bye, bye. I just enjoy working with the wood.
I use wood, Hilderbrand Sitka Spruce with my HH longbow and I have a dozen Surewoods I need to fletch. Really like the Sitka. I have a couple aluminum Easton longbow arrows that I shoot just to gauge myself. I also use them for really long shots 50 yards. Aluminum are definately louder off the bow.
My twelve yr old son Nick, says we should all shoot wood, because you can "train" them to hit...even when you make a bad shot.
